Sometimes it does get annoying or aggrevating,
But only really to me because it's repeated over and over.
I don't mind reading the stories about Anna Anderson,
And thinking about how she almost even pulled it off...

if she is so annoying, why do people keep putting up new posts on her? There are plenty already on this forum.

Poor Anna....she was a lousy version of a Polish princess, let alone an elegant Russian princess.   A total fraud and not even a good one.  No wonder the remaining Romanvs ignored her.

There was a time that I was kinda convinced she was real but that was when I believed in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairey.

When I first heard of Anna Anderson, I believed it too.
But I was only eleven years old then...and very naïve...

Even I used to believe it could be AN, when I was 12 and there wasn't much info out there, and this was years before DNA testing. Since I've seen through it all I try to point out things AA supporters don't to help people see through it. The more you investigate the more there are holes the size of a semi in her story and the claims of her supporters. But really, if everyone else would just shut up about her I would too and it would be a relief. Until then, the AA police remain on duty.

The thing I could never understand (and frankly still can't understand to this very day) is all the hubbub and ruckus raised by both her supporters and the press as to how this woman looked so much like the real Anastasia in pictures taken at the time.

What am I missing? Maybe it's just me, but the lady looked nothing like Anastasia Romanov when comparing photographs of the two.

Now, perhaps Miss Anderson would resemble Anastasia to an impartial observer after the person consumes a number of straight shots of vodka...but that's a whole different story entirely.

Thanks SGC  for the challenge.  I drank four shots of Russian vodka.   Wait 45 minutes.  Compare photos.   Wow....they're absolutely, IDENTICAL.

Then I looked in the mirror.....I looked exactly like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt!

Anastasia Romonov had fine refined lips but Anna Anderson had the sort of lips lips that remidned me of the autobahn on a wet wednesday.

The interesting part about AA to me is that apparently even Anderson herself eventually began believing she was indeed actually Anastasia. Pretty sad when you think about it...

I think you are right, she defintely believed she was  her at some point.Certainly, her photographs show no resemblence to Anastasia, but some people did think that. In some, very few photos, she looks a bit like Tatiana, but that might be her hairstyle, what she is wearing.I get kind of tired of hearing about AA too, but for anybody new to the Romanovs, it is important to remember she was not Anastasia, and to examine her story, etc from the right perspective.I first read about AA when I was 11. I never did believe in her, because the first book I ever read about her was the Lovell book, and that book doesn't present a convincing picture of her claim.

I've always thought she didn't look like Anastasia. She doesn't have the same structural face and AA's lips are way bigger than AN's. But, I have to admit, when I first read all the things she knew about the family, I was kindda.. stuck. At the begging, I didn'nt had an opinion about her, and I think that if some people thought she had a slightly ressemblance with AN, it was maybe due to 2 facts :

1. Media always choose pictures when AN and AA do the same facial expression and the look-a-like because of that
2. People who saw that for the first time doesn't have the aknowledgment to reconize Anastasia like us. We can see how OTMA were different, but people who never heard about the Romanovs can't make the differences between them !

Hahahahahahahaha.... that's hilarious. And true.

When I was twelve the first two books I got on the Romanovs were those on Anna Anderson and even then I knew she was a lunatic.

What makes Anna Anderson so annoying is the people who fight for her royal title.

What makes Anna Anderson so annoying is the people who fight for her royal title.

...which also has made (and stiill continues to make) the whole AA controversy a royal pain in the butt for all concerned.

Easy.   It happens all the time.  How else could an unemployed artist and paperhanger become the dictator of Germany.  There are many other examples around......

No Tom it was not you. There was a new member who posted on every thread that the FA was nuts and that Maria had survived. I posted and also sent a message to the FA and the messages were deleted as was the account of the poster. Therefore my post was the response to the one about Maria and was nothing to do with you at all and I am sorry that you thought it did.

Know topic has not been touched on very recently, but have found article by Baroness Sophie Buxhoeveden's meeting with Anderson: (my very apologies is long)

“When she heard us enter the room, she hid herself under the cover to hide herself from our stares, and we were not able to get her to show us her face….After asking my companions to move away from the bed a little, I tried to attract the young woman’s attention as I caressed her hair and speaking to her in English while using the types of phrases I would have used while speaking with the Grand Duchesses, but I did not refer to her by any name other than ‘Darling’. She did not reply and I saw that she did not understand a word of what I had said, for when she raised the cover after a certain period of time, and I saw her face, there was nothing in her eyes which showed she had recognized me. The eyes and forehead showed some resemblance to the Grand Duchess Tatiana Nicolaievna, resemblance that disappeared, nevertheless, as soon as her face was not covered. I had to remove the cover by force, and I saw that neither the nose, the mouth, nor the chin were formed like that of the Grand Duchess. The hair was lighter in color, some of her teeth were missing-and the remaining ones were not like those of the Grand Duchess…Her hands were also completely different, the fingers were longer and the nails narrower. I wanted to measure her height, but she refused, and I found it impossible to get an exact measurement without force. We judged roughly that in any case, she was smaller than me, while the Grand Duchess Tatiana was more than ten centimeters taller than me. I have been able to verify this, thanks to the patient’s official measurement at the time of her arrival at the hospital and that corresponded exactly with the one which was taken in my presence. I tried to awaken the memory of the young woman by all the possible means; I showed to her an ‘icon’, with the date of the Romanov jubilee, that the emperor had given to some persons of the suite, after that a ring that had belonged to the empress; the latter had been given to her in the presence of the Grand Duchess Tatiana. But none of these things seemed to evoke in her the slightest recognition. She remained completely indifferent, she whispered some incomprehensible words into Ms. Peuthert’s ear. Although I noted a certain similarity in the upper part of the face with the unknown -currently Mrs. Tschaikovski- with the Grand Duchess Tatiana, I am sure that she is not her. I later learned that the she supposes that she is the Grand Duchess Anastasia, but she does not physically resemble her in the least. She has none of the special characteristics that would allow any one who knew the Grand Duchess Anastasia well to identify her.”

There was this person who went by the user name of ChatNoir and they stubbornly insisted that Anastasia was not murdered with her family on July 17, 1918. Rather this person kept saying that Anna Anderson was, in fact, Anastasia. Of course, DNA has totally debunked that idea and proven that all the Romanovs were murdered that awful day. However, no matter I tried to tell ChatNoir this, this person wouldn't listen.

To this person, Anastasia survived and anyone who tried to say otherwise was an ignorant fool. In the end, I gave up. You can't win against people like this. Anastasia's ghost could materialize right in front of them and give a first hand account of her murder, and this clown still wouldn't believe it.

I came across Chat Noir on Amazon's website when King & Wilson's book on Anastasia came out. She was so determined not to listen to reason that I gave up.

To my eye AA did not look remotely like Anastasia, and, as Annie put it earlier in this thread, her story (particularly about her 'escape') had holes in it bigger than a semi-detached.

Yeah, the two of them look nothing alike.  I think it was a case of people wanting to believe.

I know that ChatNoir has changed his mind about AA and now believes like most people that she was FS.  I know that from another site he used to write in.  So ofcourse we can change our minds as we learn and really want to learn when new facts appear.
