Title: Imperial Russian Street Decorations in Moscow
Post by: David_Pritchard on January 29, 2006, 11:51:34 PM
Imperial Russian celebratory street and architectural decorations have always impressed me by their extravagance and their ingenuity. Below are photographs of such decorations in the city of Moscow.

I add some photographs of Moscow during Nicolas coronation, which are interesting in some extent (especially so as to measure how much money the  state had spend for this imperial event).

It seems to be extract from a russian newspaper who had the particularity to be written also in french given the fact  there was much people who talked this language-like the intelligentsia at this time -(what's a pity for a french that it has changed ,even if english is beautiful!)   ;)

I hope you could read the article and appreciate the document-as for me,I beg your pardon for my so bad english...

Wonderful pictures!  8) The grand style of the celebratory decorations must have been awe inspiring to see in person.

If this church is the Tserkov' Vladimira v Starykh Sadakh in Kitai Gorod, then the large tower no longer exists. The newer bell tower has been restored.

Hello David Pritchard, I read your post and your Imperial Russian celebratory street and architectural decorations in Moscow (http://www.infibeam.com/Books/info/melanie-rice/moscow-dk-eyewitness-travel-guide/9780751368826.html). Really very nice and good info you share here.
