anastasia : a novel by colin falconer

i just picked this novel up at target, after a few days deliberation.

i can see in the first pages there is going to be a problem as the scene is set in the house of special purpose, april 1918 and there is a nanny there for anastasia named sophie karlova. so we won't expect accuracy.

has anyone else read it yet?

it's a stupid book.

after tatiana was raped going to the toilet at night, i lost any stomach to finish it.

not a complete review but if it can't hold my interest after so long, then forget it.

So it was just a bodice-ripper type trash then...

I'm almost finishing the book now and the only conclusion I can get from it is that the witter is nymphomaniac or something. It's more pornographic than anything really...

That story of Tatiana getting raped is disgusting and it only gets worse as you go on when Anastasia survives only to become a prostitute in Shanghai where she meets an American journalist who required her services. Then she tries to jump off a bridge and he saves her. Then (surprise, surprise) he falls madly in love with her and, one day one of his friends notices that she really looks like the dead Grand-Duchess.

There's too much inaccuracy in it. Kyrill is described as the tsars's brother, Olga Alexandrovna as the empresses' niece and Ernest of Hesse as the tsarina's nephew who wants to still the russian throne. Overall... it's crap.
