Title: YouTube - Romanovs and Other Royalty
Post by: Grand Duke on September 23, 2006, 05:39:55 PM
Hello. I don't know if it is already posted but it goes again (I'm sorry).

If you go to YOU TUBE (http://www.youtube.com) and write at the search engine "Romanov" you will find lots of videos made by Romanovs fans: they put photos and music together to make very nice and touching videos. Sometimes you can see real videos made by the Romanovs itself.

Most videos are made by OTMAfan. I don't know if she is the same person as our Palace member. Great work.

I hoe you all enjoy it.

Here goes the link with the search results: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=romanov (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=romanov).

There are many videos to see!  :)

I'm making my own video at the moment for Anastasia and I'll post the link here once I have it at youtube.  :) OTMAfan isn't the same OTMAfan as we have here. OTMAfan at youtube.com is Maria~Fan here.  ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi28VU59bYo&mode=related&search=

this one is by bigbee so it's got to have Anna Anderson in it.

edit I was right! It has loads of pictures of the real Anastasia then it continues on of ones of Anderson's life as if she was Anastasia living to old age. I certainly hope no one is fooled by it.

yeah it does i seen it lots the song is great when the lady Tori Amos sings low not high i mean to me it does not make scince but it is pretty until it is like IN THE MOOR LAnd or something like that it's hard to understand though it likke talking about buttons and what gender you are but it say What gender YOooooooooouuuu! BUT it is still good but AA was not AN ::) :D
Title: Re: YouTube - Romanovs and Other Royalty
Post by: Holly on October 27, 2006, 05:44:00 PM
That video is stupid.  ::) Obviously 95% of his pictures of the real Anastasia are just screencaps from the A+E documentary on Anastasia. I do love the song Yes, Anastasia though. The lyrics don't have anything like IN THE MOOR LAND or WHAT GENDER YOU.  ;D ;D When she says, "..Button our..buttons that I'd forgotten they're buttons..well we can't have that; forgetting them." She was talking about how OTMA took off the buttons and replaced them with jewels covered in cloth.

oh ok but that's what it sounds like to me :D  But what about the 1919 part? ??? ::)
Title: Re: YouTube - Romanovs and Other Royalty
Post by: Holly on October 28, 2006, 08:17:12 PM
"Thought I'd been through this, in 1919. Counting the tears, of 10,000 men. Gathered them all, but my feet are slipping."
By 1919, she was probably talking about Anna Anderson and the "pain" and "suffering" she went through after the death of her "family".  ;)

 ;D

You know I always browse Youtube for Romanov videos -- and I think I've seen most of them!  Some of them are really well done, great presentation with the pictures and the music.

My favorite has to be the one that uses the Stephen Foster ballad "Slumber My Darling" -- that just seems so appropriate somehow and with pictures of
Alexandra with her children it is just heartbreaking -- but in a good way (if that is possible!)  Even tho' the music isn't "classical" or Russian in the slightest.

I have to say that (maybe because I'm 30+) I just can't get into the videos that use contemporary music -- as much as I like a lot of the music used it just seems to clash with the pictures of a bygone day.  But hey, that's just me and usually I just turn off the music and enjoy the presentation, which is usually lovely!

Keep on doing them!  ;D

 :)

I thought that was one of the best video tributes to the Romanovs that I have seen.....and this even tho' I am not a huge fan of the movie.

It was so poignant and the flashbacks as they waited so lovely.....you really felt it in your heart. :'(
The music was perfect also and added so much to the overall feeling of fear and melancholy!  Your would have to have an awfully hard heart not
to be moved by this.

Bravo!!!!!

I liked the pictures and video's you put, on the intermet Maria, they were very nice and pretty. The pictures were nice. Some of them were rare. It is a great contribute to the execution of the Romanovs. It had some films of the Romanovs. I liked the one were the children are playing a game with Alexei running and walking around in circles. I think it was in 1908. They look so adorable in that film footage. I also like the film of them dressed up in fur coats in 1916 or 1917.  :)

Has anyone looked at the youtube video's called Russia 7, or something like that?  It shows actual footage of the Romanov's; in particular, video of Alexie at the back of the palace mounting a horse.  I think that one is very interesting because we can compare it  (footage of the back of the palace semi=circle balcony) to its present state.

Sorry, just checked, the video is called russia5,  but the person putting them on youtube has other videos with actual film footage of the Imperial Family.  I think any of you that have actually been to the AP would be especially excited to look at Alexi on film walking in front of the semi circle balcony!  Does anyone know of any other film footage sources, etc I could check out?

I hope that helps a little....but it is really bothering me...I worked so hard on this...

You have to save the file as a video after your done.
The .MSWMM file is the working file.

What you have to do is go to:
File> Save Movie File>My Computer>
Choose the name of your file
Next> Next>

Tell me how that goes  :)

In my opinion, this video,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10QTud4lzFE

is the most moving of all. When I listen to the music, it makes me think of the young, innocent Romanov children. They seem to be singing from heaven. But, I also love everybody's video. Thanks for creating those wonderful masterpieces.

If anyone happens to know about the music, could you please let me know. Thank you.

Here is videos made by a tourist to the Alexander Palace.  These links are of the interior of the palace.  The tour guide is speaking Russian. But in one of the clips it shows snippets of the wallpaper that is featured in one of my favourite Anastasia photos.  Although I can't remember where the photo is.

In answer to people's queries as to what the music on this great video is, it is the sanctus from Libera's latest CD. You can listen to it on their website www.libera.org.uk. All the Romanov movies are fantastic so keep it up guys!!

Oh yes. That video is probably my favourite also...

I only know that the person who did it didn´t know himself what is the music. He just found it on his computer.

And I was a bit dissapointed, when I discovered that what I considered great cutting work, were mostly just cut out sequences from The land of Tsars....

Another great one is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17Z3BPz7W40 by otmaa4ever. I don´t like the movie Nicolas and Alexandra, but this was so superbly done, that I just couldn´t help crying.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I really do appreciate them.

Just yesterday I was sitting in front of my computer and suddenly I realized, that OTMA are not my hobby anymore....They are so dear to me, their memory and story....They are close to my heart and I think about them every day....

And so I finally finished Maria and Anastasia tributes.
I used a song Concrete Angel for Maria´s video - it´s NOT because I would think she was not loved in life, but because it is about a girl, that was hurt and robbed of her place in history...and because I see Maria as very angelic person:)

I thought I tell you guys that I have made my first ever video and I did it on my favourite couple Nicky and Alix.

I collected photos from various sources and I picked the song by Russian singing duo t.A.T.u.  I wanted to make the video haunting with the song and the pictures.

The song was picked because I wanted to acknowledge Nicky's & Alix's beloved country.   The lyrics also go well with the clip.

Here is a link.

A few pages back, someone posted youtube videos of rooms inside the AP. Thank you! But how was that done? Someone secretly record it with a cell phone? I thought no videos or cameras were allowed on tours. Anyway, thanks for that, even if it was against the rules. It's great to see the rooms in color, and so clear! How much were the rooms changed since NAOTMAA lived there?

I don't know if I post to the right place.. But I didn't want to start a new topic.

I really want to make a Romanov video using Romanovy : The Imperial Family from frozentears. I tried to make it with Windows Movie Maked, but when I save, a large green band appears at the bottom of the video. (I did a test first with only 20 sec of Romanovy : The Imperial Family). I changed the format, but that changed anything.

After, I tried with Roxio Video Wave, but because Romanovy : The Imperial Family is a too big download, the programm crash each time.

I have soooo many ideas for videos and to me, Romanovy : The Imperial Family videos are way too important to make a video without this.

Could anybody can help me ?

Finally, my iMovie is working. But I can't save the clips from frozentears (damn Mac), I'll try to burn a DVD, and I'll see if it works. Thank you Micheal. But... don't you have any ideas why the big green bar appears ? I'll much prefer to work with Windows Movie Maker. If I can't fix this, I'll do it with iMovie =)

Right click on the clips on frozentears and save where needed. Big green bar? Not seem that. When you have them on the desktop drag the clips into imovie clips pane. Then move down to clip line and edit away. Should work.

Dear,

I am so teared up, the music makes it so emotional.

I have heard it, could it be Elizabeth - The Golden Age Trailer?
Not sure about this though, anyway it is lovely.

I told you I am creating a few video's on IF - with only pictures and a few really focusing on movies - but am getting lazy:p

Anyway, it is wonderful.

Also I re post now few old ones of mine :-[ because sadly my old account was suspended - It aren't really tributes(not all of them) but still am proud of them :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt1KXn4EewE - Tribute to Alexandra as a mother, her relationship with Alexei and her dealing with his ilness - With footage from several movies

To be honest I started on a few bio-tributes for a few more unknown, but also tragic Royals, so Picture-tributes will be mine soon too. I did one with footage before as you know, but sadly that one is also lost...

Thanks for the nice comment :)

So they have Mayerling. Wow. I know I have watched a few other documentaries, like the Vietnam War, The Holocaust. etc.

I enjoyed Three Kings at War.

There is one on Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence. It was enjoyable to watch.

Are there any documentaries or dramas on YouTube in Russian mentioning the Imperial Family members by name?  So far all I have found are tribute music videos.  Thanks.

Well, there is a Russian song where the singer mentions all of NAOTMAA by first names (if I'm not wrong, the song was О Царских Мучениках, wasn't it? Still, can't remember exact English name of it) - yet, it is music to a tribute video made by Tatiana Z - member of this forum. Have you seen it? Maybe it could help - in the chorus, the singer sings their names. :-| Don't know about documentaries in Russian on YouTube though.

I used the movie 'Last Days of The Last Tsar/Искупительная жертва' which follows the final months in the lives of the Imperial Family, in docu-dramatic style, it also shows the murder of Grand Duchess Ella and tells of Grand Duke Michael's murder. It uses much footage of the Imperial family and shows their burial. A wonderful, but sad, movie. It can be watched at Frozen Tears.

And my darling, I must say this here. If I would sail 'cold waters' alone, you would be in my heart.

"RomanovMartyrs" and your Reply # 15:  IMO I would not waste further time on the 2 individuals' grandiosely-named "Alexei Romanov Foundation" web site: www.alexeiromanovfnd.web.com.   As you so nicely put it,  "I believe it to be an abandoned concept."  Read their biographies that express their motivation/s. Quickly checking, it apparently collapsed after a mere 4 months+ and never had much "Guest Book " contact (less than 8, primarily the two co-founders:  "Matt J." and "Matt C." ), your attempt to contact being the last.  The "co-founders" appear to have had problems after the first 30 days, with a seemingly piqued "alexeiromanovfnd" (Matt C.) posting under "Channel Comments" :  "Matt J. : u didn't have to erase all my writing." (www.youtube.com/alexeiromanovfnd).  So much for "Peace, Harmony and Prosperity For All!" and "making Alexei's dream come true "  !   Regards,  AP

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQnS73HeTuw

I'm a little bit annoyed with youtube, they keep ruining all our hard work by those claims on the music and everything. This partly is the reason why it takes me so long to post these days. Also school started, thus leaving little time for other things and I am not really in a great emotional state either, which makes me quite 'not doing things'.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy

Funny I should run across your post today because I was just thinking this morning of how they fell to thier knees when the priest read the prayers for the dead during that last ceremony just before thier deaths. As they came up to kiss the cross, the girls wept and whispered thier thanks to the priest, even though they were not allowed to talk. I was thinking how that was their last religious ceremony until thier burial 80 years later. I would find your program interesting. I'm not very knowledgeable of this aspect of  thier lives, yet thier religion was so very important to them.

FOR GOD, TSAR AND THE FATHERLAND (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAybLqGCac8)

An interesting documentary, it's not entirely related to the Romanovs. But it gives an insight on how the imperial period still holds sway in Russia.

Outstanding videos anyone!   ;-) I like the music in Boris' tribute.

And....here it is!

My first tribute to Aleksei Nicholaievich. It contains several chronologically ordered photos, some Footage of him (On the Standart, Ipatiev House, at Stavka and such....) and beautiful song 'Pile' (The Chicken). Nothing offensive I meant, song is really beautiful, it is a ballad. It is kinda sung to one angel...When I was searching for appropriate song, I just said -- '' That is the one!' I really had problems with saving the subtitles, so that I made Hardsubs. I just think that some photos endures for a longer time I expected, but dear Lord....I am satisfied with outcome, given the fact it is my very first (more serious) work. I also wanted to put some word as his biography, but I just thought that it would have been much words, and by the way, almost everything is known. I think it is going to be better in the next time. Oohh, yes, I will have to add some more words into 'Info' gap. I also think I will make more tributes to other Royals and so on. To be seen. Up to then, please visit, try to feel the song, and if that is not problem, feel free to rate or comment. Anything is welcomed!

AN, The Chicken:

Please, do forgive to my penny-worth on this job! :p

Two of Queen Liz at the races (part of a doco).

The Queen wins 16 pounds,  I love the excited smile she flashes the camera when she exits.

The Queen and Queen Mother after watching the race (it's a windy day and Liz's eyes water which surprises her) yes she kind of back talks to the Queen Mum.

Here is a yt vid of Catherine Tate (more worldly famous for being on Dr Who) as one of her many characters Teenage girl  Lauren and her friends.
This was part of the Royal Variety Performance.

The scene is of Lauren and her two friends being at the RVP and being excited to get a glimpse of the Queen.  The camera gets a few shots of Elizabeth enjoying the performance.  She looks like she is laughing and about to cry.

Hey Jarin,

Love your vid.  As for the execution scene I'm pretty much desensited to it.   I don't get emotional at all.   No I'm not cold hearted it just "the way it goes."

I have watched real footage of people from the holocaust being murdered and photographs of victims about to be killed as well.  There is a sadness but it is the way it was.

I put a like on your vid.

This is something different from what I'm usted to put together,
on August 29th it was 75 years since the death of Queen Astrid of the Belgians, and here you have a bunch of reports on the events from that day and the Queen her life.

Now to get some of you into my romanov-video's I'm gonna repost some(forgive me:p), but I notice many new members since my final post so... That's why(and as to why I've not been here, personal things have been a little messy...)

Missy-T  I saw it and can't believe it's your first video...expertly done ! You say it took awhile, but it was well worth it. I think the editing is stellar and that is key in Romanov tributes because so many of the images are known...what we can do is change the display of them  to create something that feels  new and this you have done!  It's really a short film. Bravo!

You inspired me to list my you tube videos here too! ... they are about my paintings of the children

No Romaov-video... In fact it has been forever since I was able to finish one(I am lucky if I get to finish one every 5 months or something... College, work, not much time:p)....

However, I have watched the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and I could not resist doing a little montage...

So, here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEk8NuisKRw

Skip the montage if you want, I need to find a way to set the starting point when the actual vid starts:p Would be much easier. However, hope you like it.

This is the very first video, of any kind, that I made. I have mixed feelings about it now, thinking of what I could have done to improve it... Nonetheless, it is on youtube... Hope you guys like it:

"The Greatest Thing"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNufNroXdfg

This was made a few years ago, when I had more of a clear idea what I was doing. This is a special tribute to the Tzarevich Aleksei Nicholaievich... I feel I should explain the video a bit though so as to avoid possible confusion, since it does have an odd concept.

The videos (there are three versions) feature figure skaters who have suffered serious adversity in their lives and most of them happen to be Russian (Johnny Weir is the lone exception). The skaters skate a sort of imaginary performance in prayer to the Royal Child-Martyr, to the song "Star of Bethlehem" from the film "Home Alone." It contains some very beautiful lyrics, fitting for the particular skaters as well as Aleksei. So I thought it was fitting to combine the two. I'll outline briefly the problems the various skaters have had to overcome:

As I've pointed out here, Evgeni Plushenko has endured great injuries and poverty, as he worked his way toward his dream of Olympic Gold, realized with a torn meniscus he had suffered for 3 years prior... I also felt his eyes resembled Romanov eyes, so that is why I feature him first...

Johnny Weir was, at the time, the true inspiration for making the video. Just prior to its creation, he suffered a devastating ankle injury just after beginning his performance at the 2005 Skate Canada competition. I discovered long after I made the video that he too is interested in the Romanovs. He later went on to win his third consecutive Natioal title.

Ilia Kulik suffered a lingering back injury that left many questioning if he would make it to the 1998 Olympics. He went on to earn the Gold Medal there, but promptly retired from eligible skating because of that injury, but has had amazing success as a professional.

The world knows the tragedy of Ekaterina Gordeeva & Sergei Grinkov, so I won't go into that. But I will say that the first video I show of them is their final performance, 8 days before his death.

Alexei Urmanov was the defending Olympic Champion from 1994 when he suffered the gravest injury for a figure skater, a groin injury. He had to withdraw from the entire 1997-98 Olympic season, and many believed he would never skate again. He later went on to return to eligible skating for another year, earning solid placements. He later won the 1999 World Professional Championships.

Irina Slutskaya suffers from vasculitis (I believe she still does, I don't think that kind of thing goes away), an inflammation of the blood vessels. Like Urmanov, it was believed that she would never skate again. She went on to an undefeated season in 2004-2005, culminating in the crowning achievement of her second World Championship Gold, claimed in her hometown of Moscow. Her story was another inspiration for this video.

I think the only one that people would not know here is Alexander Abt. He suffered more injuries in my opinion than any of the others in his long years on the ice. When he was 19 years old, he skated at a show in Mexico, and fell on a jump. He crashed into the boards, breaking his leg. His left skate sliced through his right quadricep, all the way to the bone. Blood was all over the ice, and he spent 9 months in a Mexican hospital before spending another 3-6 months in a Russian hospital. Every doctor he saw told him that he would never walk again, let alone skate. The accident happened in 1996. The videos I feature are from the year 2002. He earned high placements, but rarely was higher than third. It also seemed that every time I saw him, which was often, he was either injured, or recovering from an injury. After a groin injury amidst the 2004 Nationals, which he entered as the defending champion, he withdrew after the short program, saying in a statement, "I just can't fight anymore." I think he reminds me most of Aleksei.

So that's why I feature those particular skaters. In the video, they all seem to be asking God, and Aleksei, to "guide" them through their struggles. I hope you all enjoy the various versions. I HOPE to make a fourth version, taking the constructive criticism from some fellow montage makers in mind.

Guiding Star: Version One
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WFu634cUog

Version Two: This contains additional transitions and effects as well as a different version of the song with full adult choir and orchestra. I prefer this version of the song to the previous one. Notice the video itself is basically the same... I think it carries more of an emotional weight though thanks to the power of the version of the song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9atQb4p5FuI

I would link to three, but it actually doesn't differ too much except with the difference in speed in some videos, and I think in another photo of Aleksei. I thought I had added some other skaters in that version, but I added them in another version that I lost before I could put it on youtube. So I hope you guys enjoy and are able to understand the idea... Feel free to comment. Constructive criticism is appreciated, because I do hope to make a final version in honor of Aleksei's upcoming birthday.

Hope I didn't ramble too much but I felt the video needed some explanation... Anyway, enjoy!

Thank you! TN loved  exactitude, loved lists, The Governess!...I actually think she was a very sensitive person, surely that is evident in her face,,, and I believe she  found a type of  comfort in the impersonal medical world. Olga  was all about the personal, that was her approach to life . That   makes being effective in the medical world nearly  imposable....if you can't  shut that down, who would not be upset and crying all the time in such a place ? It's hard now to look into these men's eyes.  What I admire about Olga in this is she recognized the situation and  removed herself from the dressing room. Those engaged to making sure a nervous GD didn't mess up...(and one can see the large group of people in the photos) were needed else where.   lol!  But that didn't stop her from doing what she could   and in a tireless fashion . She played piano for the men , (ALOT)  chess games, lawn crochets , did great deal  of supply work and there are stories of her writing letters home  for men who lost their right arms ... which sadly,  many did. But looking at the photos in the dressing room: TN is engaged and interested , ON looks unhappy...again, anyone would be  if they can't shut down the personal...and not everyone can. The medical profession is a calling .

Oh Yes, you must start with the music!  Petipa only gave Tchaikovsky a few instructions, then waited for Tchaikovsky's score to be written before Petipa would choreograph a ballet!!

Actually, this is a new hobby for me.  The first video I put up was the Rex and Hannah one, then after that, the one in honour of my cat, Trilly, who had just passed away (the cat I had before I adopted Tatiana).

When they started running these "Land Of Dreams" commercials, sung by Rosanne Cash, something just clicked.  I know the song was not written with the Romanovs in mind, but to me, it just seemed to fit.  Inspired, I set about making this video.

I do like your video about Dimitri. It was interesting to see the pictures of him riding. In particular, it would seem that he used the forward seat when jumping. Before WW1 this was very modern and quite controversial, as the forward seat had only recently been developed by an Italian named Federico Caprilli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caprilli), and then taken up by the Italian cavalry. One of Dimitri's friends was Colonel Paul Rodzianko (nephew of the President of the Duma), who was one of the leading riders of his day, and the first Russian to train with the Italians at their cavalry school.

Simply enchanting, as always :-) Love the music too!

So much is made of the "Big Pair" and "Little Pair" dynamic. Pairings within a unit. This owes mostly to age (Anastasia and Alexei's seemingly special connection too as a good example of this) similarities of course. But as they grew older these lines began to vanish and by captivity I would have to believe they were gone almost completely.

Once upon a time little Marie was picked on by her older sisters...but here she is the perfect sounding board for sensitive Olga and a beloved and indispensable member of the family!

Indeed! I like the story of when she was very young and excluded from a play house... The BP told she could be the footman! She came back with toys and gave each of the big pair big slaps and said"  I won't be the footman...I'll be an auntie with gifts! " TN said they deserved the beating  and Marie was accpeted into the family lol

Thanks Tim :)

blessOTMA told me about this thread and asked if I would post my latest video, so here it is! I hope that you like it!!

I have associated this song with the Romanovs ever since I discovered them for the first time, accidentally on an ancient Myspace page years ago. There was a slideshow there that played this song. I have wanted to make a video to it ever since! : )

SEA CONTAINERS HOUSE JUBILEE WRAP

Thames Jubilee Pageant Day, sunday 3rd june 2012.       ..............My photograph

A look back at one of the oddest sights of the jubilee year, the largest banner ever produced in the UK. It's a balcony scene from the queen's jubilee of 1977, and it measures 100 meters by 37 meters.

Here's how it was made, a time lapse film of one minute 47 seconds. Que the patriotic music.       ..........Link by Sea containers.

In 1916 the Russian poet, Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin, dedicated
a  poem to the Grand Duchesses for their work of nursing the war wounded .

Our own Helen A.  recently translated it into English .When I read Helen's excellent translation
of this wonderful poem,I had to make a video.

The music is from composer, Rachel Portman's  " Hart's War"

We are seeing, in many ways, the end of their childhood innocence in these pictures. Both beautiful and heartbreaking.

Indeed. The aim at the time might have been to create an atmosphere of  nostalgia ...it's like these photos were taken in a fairy land...not here at all. There a yearning  in their expressions that is haunting...all this was quite in vogue at the time

It's about OTMA's love of life. It was such that it urges us who yet live to live fully
