Those are excellent. I hope you find more. I've seen some of them only in tiny thumbnails on Harald's Standart website (http://www.yachtstandart.com/standart-mainframe.htm). I'm very glad to have larger versions.

Too bad that personal color photography wasn't invented until so much later.

I hate always feeling that the past was "lived in black and white".

Those photos are indeed beautiful!   :D

I understand your sentiment. Think though how much poorer we would have all have been if there was no black and white photography. All that would have existed would have been commissioned paintings.

Seeing photos again of the Standart makes one realise how very much was lost when Nicholas II lost the throne through poor rule. It is worth knowing that there is a museum to do with Imperial Yachts at Peterhof.

Wow, I wish that I'd seen this thread sooner. These photos are wonderful, since I've never seen very many interior shots of the Standart.

I have the complete set of these photos in full size and restored.  Thanks for posting these.  They were taken just before the yacht was handed over to the IF for their use.

Douglas, is there any possibility of you sharing the rest of those photos?

I'll look through my files and see what I can do.  If I post any photos, they will be posted totally free of watermarks.

Douglas, thank you for the pictures and their descriptions! I've always wondered what--I believe it's Anastasia--is lying on top of in that picture with Olga, so you solved that mystery for me. I've seen many of those pictures before but have never known where on the yacht they were taken.

Douglas,  I add my thanks as well. I just finished Olga's 1913 diary and of course her beloved Standart
is featured prominently. Your pictures brought her descriptions alive to me. It was so beautifully made!

 Thank you  again!

I am  happy that you are enjoying these photos.  I will post more.  I will also upload some rare photos of the Polar Star on the appropriate thread.

Also will appear photos, plans and a model of the Marti...as the ex-Standart was known in the Soviet era and WW 2.  I will add to these threads as I have time.  I read all of your kind and appreciative comments.  Thank you...!

Nicholas' study in Standart (http://www.nashflot.ru/img/model/12506962253.jpg).

Thank you! Such  beautiful quality photos! I like looking to see what photographs they had on display . In Nicholas' study's one can see the formal portrait from thier trip to England. In Alexandra cabin, one can see the portrait , I believe from 1906, of the four girls, but it shows it going  from left to right, from  A to O. It's mostly shown the other way.

Good observation! I don't believe I've ever seen it going from Anastasia to Olga. Considering this is how it was hung for the Romanovs themselves, does this mean that that is the way the photo was intended to be viewed and we've just been seeing it flipped all this time?

Yes I would think so...I often see pictures where I wonder if they are flipped.... and imo it makes a difference.

Empress' Alexandra cabin in Standart (http://www.nashflot.ru/img/model/12506962251.jpg).

another thing I just noticed on Alexandra's desk,  on the left hand side,  is a picture of Olga in a sailor outfit,
but it's mounted on a sort of lamp. ( you can see the ornate base) It looks like there are three
other photos so mounted, and so creating a lamp shade of photos...very pretty

It's hard to tell, but you may be right. Perhaps the other photos would be of the other girls during that photo session.

I had posted it some time ago in Michael's topic. ;-)
The first time when I saw that picture (in Beinecke Albums), it was absolutely clear for me that it's Michael Aleksandrovich. I don't understand why he is labeled there as 'some officer'  :/

Exactly, thank you for the reminder.

The problem is that the quantity of wrongly labeled photos around web sites it's considerable, right yesterday I found a picture of Alexander III labeled as Nicholas I...quite a big mistake. :- )

Empress' Alexandra cabin in Standart (http://www.nashflot.ru/img/model/12506962251.jpg).
I see a picture there of a girl in a sailor's suit (not that one of Olga). I think that's Anastasia. Must like to see that picture bigger!
Thanks for all the pictures, Douglas and Nena! The Standart really proved to be much like a palace in the interior. wooow!

Welcome. In fact I am almost pretty certain that is Alexei, in August of 1907 , on Standart:

(http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x139/nemanjapr/Romanov/Aleksej/th_00001408_b.jpg) (http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x139/nemanjapr/Romanov/Aleksej/?action=view&current=00001408_b.jpg)

And there is also one of Olga's as well.

Looking at how someone arranges thier pictures is interesting. This seems similar to AF's photo
arrangements else where. Queen Victoria often always central.
