As I didn't really know that much about our monarchy before this programme, I have to say its changing my opinion about it all in a good way. The Queen, even though she was dressed in all her regalia (is that the right word?) just came across as an ordinary person, interested in what others had to say and concerned for people and her country. I particularly liked the part where she leant over the balcony looking to see if someone was coming to sort out a lift for one of the guests. To be it just looked like something your mother or nana would do, not a Queen!  ;)
I thought this episode was much more interesting than the last. I didn't realise so many people worked at Buckingham Palace!

I watched this programme last night and it was really interesting. I haven't watched many programmes about our royal family before, but this was really good. This first episode was mainly about the Queen's state visit to the USA and to be honest, I found out more about the White House and how that operates than the Queen. I'm sure it said that for when the Queen was visiting a part of Virginia, which lasted about 45 minutes, the local people had to spend 2 months preparing for it!
The first thing they showed on the documentary was the photographs taken by the American photographer (who's name has escaped me) for publicity for the state visit (the edited scenes that called all that controversy).
One thing that annoyed me was the way a lot of the American people interviewed (even George W. Bush and the people organising the event) were calling her majesty 'The Queen of England' rather than 'The Queen of Great Britain' which I think would have been more correct. Surely they should have got the facts right.

This is a bit off topic, but I noticed on the documentary how they mensioned that our monarchy is important because there isn't many anymore. Why is there a lot of fuss made over the British monarchy compared to other countries like the Netherlands and Denmark (?) who still have a monarchy?

Can someone please colour this picture of Anne Frank for me? I've tried many attempts myself, but they have never turned out right!

Here is a picture of the restored room where this picture was taken if you need help with colours:

Two pictures of Anne Frank

It would be interesting to see a new film about the lifes of the Romanovs in the light of the fact that we now know for definate that no-one survived. It would be nice for the film to be in Russian too with subtitles and hearing the royal family speak in the language (or languages) they would have spoke in.
I personally am all for historically accurate films with the actors speaking in the characters actual language. I'd love to see a Dutch film made about Anne Frank, but thats another matter.

I saw someone's coloured picture of Anne Frank once and I thought I'd love to do it myself so I had a go. My early attempts at doing this were really bad as I used Adobe Elements and used a paintbrush with some opacacy instead of outlining the area and filling it in like I do now. I then figured out that programmes like Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop CS can give better results so I downloaded lots of free trials off the internet, finally found a tutorial to teach you how to colour b&w photos on Paint Shop Pro and then asked my parents to buy it for me for Christmas. I have since got better at colouring in, thanks as well to peoples tips on this forum!

How do you manage to get the skin colours really realistic on your pictures? I take swabs from colour pictures and stuff to use when I'm colouring pics, but they never turn out right, can you help?

Imperial Russian History / Why did Russia go to war in WW1?

Is it true that Russia went to war in World War One because the Tsar wanted to try and build up the country's patriotism and make people more loyal to him? Or am I thinking of the Russo - Jap war?

Ahh! Thanks a lot, I always thought it was more serious than that. I wondered if it was done by the Bolsheiviks to demoralise them because they were the Russian Royal family, like the Nazis did with the Jews in the Holocaust.
