I do wish that some of this stuff was ever in English.

Mike, I have never seen so many splendid photos in one place!  They are absolutely magnificent.....thank you so much for posting them along with the WW II shots inbetween.

Who is Periskope and is this his website or yours?  Mike, did you take these wonderful pictures?  They look like your beautiful work....

The Alexander Palace / Re: Imperial Train Station Ruins

It is so neat to see the old and the new pictures, side by side!  I'm amazed at how much is left, you can see clearly that it is the train station.

I read everything even though I rarely post.  So I do understand.  But I just get tired of all the ill will.  Especially about Greg and Penny.

Sorry to butt in to your discussion.  Frankly I enjoyed FOTR.....and since NO ONE really knows what happened  on the girls/Alexi's boat journey I just passed over it and still kept my own opinions intact.....like I do with ALL Romanov books.  The only ones that I totally believe are the books of letters, those I enjoy so much!

But I am patiently awiting Bob's book.......

Thanks Bear, I need all the help I can get with my computer!  I can't seem to dredge up "quotes"

THANK YOU SO MUCH SARAHUSHA!!!  We needed that.....

Doesn't anyone just read books any more for the PURE ENJOYMENT of the read? (There isn't a book printed today that a mistake cannot be found....overlook them!)

All of this fussing and fighting is too much!  One thing I've learned about the AP forum.....no one is going to change anyone's personal opinion on anything....the struggle just goes on and on once you guys start in on a subject to disagree on.  Then when some dumb person like me breaks in to say ENOUGH ALREADY I get my head chewed off, and worse.

Oh well.....carry on I guess.

Books about the Romanovs and Imperial Russia / Re: Duplicate Books
« on: March 03, 2008, 10:53:25 AM »
Felix is a doll, he and I have even borrowed from each other and then returned them when we were finished reading them.  But I would say that would be frought with lots of dangers unless you know the person WELL!

In the beginning I would send the postage back to the sender, I am very weird about obligations, but after a while it seemed to work better not to.....just reciprocate by sending them something in return sometime.

I think Felix is wonderful for starting up this duplicate books thread.....so many of us have benefited from it in the sharing of our extra books.

The Windsors / Re: Prince William and Prince Harry in the Military

I for one, am proud of Prince Harry....and it's about time!   He is no better than the other sons and daughters serving.

I am shocked at the media for putting him in EXTRA danger and announcing to the world the exact place that he is serving.  Its like an invitation....."here I am, come and get me"!  But the media cares nothing about human lives, just their moneymaking stories.

Dear Bob.....this book is simply wonderful, I am enjoying it so very much!

I just can't imagine all of the work these poor servents went through for each and every meal, its unbelievable,
and the tremendous amount of food served at one meal.  The waste must have been terrible.  The training of a new
servant must have taken a long time to  even remember it all.

Thank you for posting this book.  I love it!

Imperial Transportation / Re: Imperial Train
« on: January 20, 2008, 02:41:45 PM »
Thanks Joanna, for showing us exactly how magnificent the Imperial Train really was.  Unbelievable!  I would love to be able to see the pictures in color, the richness of the furnishings and the magnificent wall hangings/craperies.....I really wonder what color they were, does anyone know?  Anyone seen anything in color about the train?

Dimitri whatever you were trying to say back in July of 2007.....it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Joanna, I am so grateful that you let us know about these wonderful sites of Janet Ashton's and all of the others.  I had no idea they were out there.  I admire Janet Ashton and Greg Kings work highly.

I am really looking foreward to the article of William Lee's about Dimitri P.

The photographs on these sites are so wonderful!

Joanna, thank you for posting this interesting article.  I am very glad that this dacha was saved and restored.

Maybe you can stay there on your visit this year?  At least you can visit and maybe take photographs.....

Everything you post on the AP is of great interest and I want to thank you.
