Does anyone else besides me think this is Henri d'Orleans next to Arthur? The photo was taken c. 1888 and Henri was touring India in that year.

Sorry if this photo was already discussed, I tried to do a search of the threads.

I don't think so. Why to keep pictures hidden just because dont know the identity of one of the sitters if here we got people who can tell who they are and correct us?

Mostly of us came here to learn and sometimes the best way to learn is from our mistakes and other people kindly correcting us, dont you think? ;-)

My comment was down right rude and, for lack of a better word, cruel..You are right!

Here is a photo of Alix on the same day as the previous image you posted that many, including myself,  agree was baby Maud...

George Plumptre's bio of Bertie indicates this picture of Alix was taken in 1872. He seems to be wrong.

Anyways, my apologies. Also, don't worry we'll correct you. hehe.

Frederick in a photo by Lewis Carroll

This was taken by Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) in 1863 at a studio in Badcock's Yard, Oxford. As a fan of Carroll's photography i think this is not at all representative of his best work. However it is neat to think about how he met Freddy!!


Carroll also photographed Prince Leopold, future Duke of Albany, while he was at Christ Church some years later. 

This photo, from mid-November 1863, was taken at Carroll's rooms in Oxford off St Adgate's Street. These were the first rooms that he had that afforded him the privacy he felt he needed for backgrounds, room for indoor skylights and a more relaxed setting for children, etc.... Carroll's friend Kitchen had telephoned at 11:30 to say he would be bringing the Prince, then studying at Christ Church, by in an hour. Despite the rush, Carroll took 2 negatives--a 6x5 half-length and an 8x10 full-length. Carroll recorded that the Prince chatted 'amiably' and he found him a 'much brighter specimen' than his royal brother-in-law--Bertie, I presume.

There are a number of different posses from that 1865 visit to Rosenau. All of them wonderful, I think.

Yes, with only Fritz, Louis and Alix of course. There are also a few with the Duke Ernst of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Aunt Alexandrine. Ernst looks so young for his age..and to think his younger brother was already dead several years is a bit sad.

Some more....first two of ''Aunt Swan's'' mother Lovisa, Frederick VIII and Lovisa, Frederick and Lovisa with their family, the one gdella poster earlier on of Lovisa and Frederick and Lovisa's daughter princess Thyra of Denmark.

Dont mean to doubt you RN, but this is Lille Louise, and not Thyra. Lovely image of her though!
