Mediatized Noble Families / Re: Thurn und Taxis, the elder line, Part 2
« on: December 12, 2012, 11:06:19 AM »
Finally, in another magazine I've found the answer, it's not Mathilde, born in 1874, but Amalie Mathilde, born in 1876, daughter of Adolf Lamoral and Franziska

The Hohenzollern / Re: Question about and/or Help with Picture(s)

I haved doubts........

Just to compare:
Countess Agnes,2nd wife of Count Karl, who was born Princess von Ysenburg und Buedingen zu Buedingen(1843-1912)

and Countess Marie (1855-1909)

From all I know it's a supposed Countess of Ysenburg und Büdingen zu Meerholz. But who?

Well,if that is the case it could be easier to identify the person...There were just few Countesses from the Meerholz line with that age around 1870ies:

1.Countess Agnes,2nd wife of Count Karl, who was born Princess von Ysenburg und Buedingen zu Buedingen(1843-1912)

2.And maybe, just maybe Countess Marie(1855-1909),who was daughter in law of Count Karl, born Princess Reuss zu Greiz, making her aunt of Princess Hermine, wife of Wilhelm II...she married Count Friedrich only in 1875,so that's why I said maybe...

Marie's brother Prince Heinrich XXII was German ambassador to Vienna under the reign of Wilhelm I, German Emperor,so maybe there is a connection with this cabinet photo!

So,it could be either Countess Agnes von Ysenburg-Meerholz,born also Princess Ysenburg und Buedingen or Countess Marie von Ysenburg-Meerholz,born Princess Reuss zu Greiz, sister of German Ambassador in Vienna...

Found some of the other ones too....

Could it be Felicitas Prinzessin von Thurn und Taxis??
Born 16 January 1889, died 3 March 1934

Or Gabriele Gräfin Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau, wife of Erich Thurn und Taxis?
Born 28 March 1883, died 28 October 1970

Or Luise von Thurn und Taxis, daughter of Franz Thurn und Taxis and cousin of Felicitas Taxis.
Born 4 May 1887, died 4 March 1949

Or (what I think) Mathilde von Thurn und Taxis, daugther of Egon Thurn und Taxis. She died only with 38 in Vienna. And her father was a member of the Vienna court, also in Hungary, because his wife Viktoria was from Hungary. And on the newspaper stands "Wien-Budapest"
Born 21 February 1874, died 7 May 1912 Vienna.
Also she looks like Vicktoria Edelsbacher: http://forum.alexanderpalace.org/index.php?topic=14575.0

Felicitas I think not, since she would be at most 14 years old in the picture, , Luise would be 16....not really an age to frequent the Wiener salons and about Gabriele, this magazina always puts the maiden name if they are married into a family, so I guess that rules out Gabriele as well.........

If someone has pictures of the other daughters, it would be great!

There are no other daughters, since she only had 2 brothers....of the brothers I have nothing, but I do have one of her sister in law Princess Lida....

1e) Maximilain Egon (Écska 15 Jun 1872-Vienna 5 Jan 1920)

2e) Mathilde (Écska 21 Feb 1874-Vienna 7 May 1912)

3e) Viktor (Écska 18 Jan 1876-Vienna 28 Jan 1928); m.Uniontown, Pennsylvania 1 Nov 1911 Lida Eleanor Nicholls

I've enlarged the picture a bit....and I think you are right! What a wonderful finding!!!! There are a few lines in the paper further on, where it says that this princess Bensie frequently visited the Wiener salons....

9
Found in the Austria Archives this wonderful portrait of a princess Bensie (?) of Thurn und Taxis............now I've seen they often use nicknames, but who could this be?

10

Ilyala, you mean REALLY older, right? ;-)  Well...........here he is, with his second wife, Thereza Lisboa Figueria de Mello! This picture was taken during the wedding of Leka of the Albanians and Susan Cullen-Ward, 3 years before his death in 1978.

Alexander with his first wife Marie Princess of Ligne

I think this is not Alexander, the brother of Erich, but Alexander the son of Erich with his wife. You can see in the picture the first 2 names of the woman, Marie Valerie....
Alexander Ferdinand Hans Hugo Karl Egon Rudolf Lamoral Erich (Schloß Mzell 31 Aug 1906-Munich 16 Dec 1992); m.(morganatically) Prague 26 Oct 1935 Marie Valerie Gfn von Mazzuchelli (Vienna 15 Apr 1913-Vienna 20 Jul 2001)

12
Franz Josef Karl Leopold Blanka Adelgunde Ignatius Raphael Michael Vero (Vienna 4 Feb 1905-Hernstein 9 May 1975); m.1st (morganatically) London 22 Jul 1937 (div) Maria Aloisa Baumer (Vienna 30 Mar 1906-Vienna 9 Mar 1987); m.2d (morganatically) Zürich 21 Jan 1962 Maria Elena Seunig, Cdsa de Basus (Triest 7 Sep 1925-Baden nr Vienna 20 Aug 1994)

Can somebody help me out here, please? I have pictures of him, and of both his wife, the only problem is, it is the same picture! ;-) on one it says it is his first wife and on the other one it says it is his second, well if they were not identical twins it's ratheer difficult to figure out ;-)

Anybody has pictures of the ladies?

Thanks!!!
