French Royals / Re: Impératrice Eugénie
« on: July 01, 2012, 03:19:15 PM »
Hello,
Sometimes I'm pretty sure about the name of the sitters but in some cases I'm not sure.
The following cdv shows to my opinion Empress Eugenie with a girl......but this is one of these cases I have my doubts.
It is roughly identified in the back as "Eugenie" and comes from an album with other royalties.

Thank you,
Jan

The standing woman is indeed Marie Caroline. The sitting is Queen Maria Teresa of the 2 Sicilies, widow of Ferdinando II.
Thanks !!
I actually just came across a website with photographs of the family of Ferdinando II and Maria Teresa. It was in French and that was probably the reason why I did not came across it earlier - using words like Queen ....
So I just came to the same conclusion as you did.
Thanks very much for your help !!

Hello,
Another puzzle.
I'm trying to find out who the two women in the photograph are.
It looks to me that the standing woman is Marie Caroline von Osterreich (1825-1915).
But the seated woman .... Have compared her with members of the Royal family of the II Sicilies but have not found a good match yet.
Don't let you lead by the possible identification of the standing woman - I can be totally wrong !!

Hello,
I wonder if anybody knows if the photographed girl is Sophie Charlotte von Bayern (1847-1897). Married name Sophie d'Alençon.
She is identified as Herzogin in Bayern and considering the time the photo was taken (c 1860-62) and her looks I'm trying to find out if it is correct.

Thank you for your time !

Jan

I've seen another photo of this lady from the same session, and it was identified as Theresia, countess of Meran, the wife of Franz of Meran. Franz, born in 1839, was the son of Archduke John and Anna Plochl.

Thanks Veronica for your information ! Jan

Beware of fake photographs - check the credibility of the seller. Why sell private and accept no returns ? Does one offer huge numbers of photographs ? Does the cardboard corrseponds with that one of the photographer who made the photo ?
People are selling photographs who look like antiques - do some research first !!

Hello Zukunftsseele,

The girl standing right is to mu opinion Klothilde zu Ysenburg - Büdingen. She lived from 1852 to 1922.
She was the daughter of Karl Friedrich zu Ysenburg - Büdingen in Meerholz and Grafin Johanne zu Castell - Castell.
The seated girl on the left could be her sister Helene (1848-1920).

I have two photographs of the girls which I will scan shortly to compare.

Greetings,

Jan

You are right .....

Please find it here:

The titles read "Prinzessin Mimi(?)" and "Prinzessin Beth von Sachsen - Altenburg" and "1882 oder 83".

The seated girl is to my opinion Maria von Sachsen - Altenburg and the standing girl Elisabeth von Sachsen - Altenburg.
I have also thought of Maria von Sachsen - Meiningen but since I also have a photograph of her I must say she does not look like them.

I'm not certain about the "Mimi" - it could be Mari but that is ot very logic.

Thanks in advance !

Jan

Adjusted three photographs of Maria zu Schaumburg - Lippe née von Sachsen - Altenburg (1864-1918). Married 1882 Prince Georg zu Schaumburg - Lippe. Daughter of Moriitz von Sachsen - Altenburg and Auguste von Sachsen - Meiningen.
One of her while she's a girl. One as a bride and one a little later.

I'll also add these photos to the Schaumburg - Lippe topic in case someone is overlooking them here.....
