P.s. Everyone but Tatiana

The novel by Carolly Erickson entitled "The Tsarina's Daughter,"  was a fun read, a great fiction laced with historical events, places, and people.  The story is told from the first person perspective of Tatiana Nicholaievna, who is now an elderly woman living in Saskatchewan, having survived the revolution of 1918.   I  feel, compelled as a student of history to pan the novel.  Erickson obviously did NOT do her homework on the Romanov family, if she did she would have selected Olga  as the main character and not her prim and proper, soft spoken sister Tatiana.  I say Olga because she was more inclined to be rebellious, and more worldly then the rest of her sisters.

Some of the things Tatiana was made to do and say in the book was WAY far fetched in my opinion, especially for that time period.  She also shot at Rasputin in book, which I found to be a bit shocking and it seemed heavily implied  Nicolas and Alexandra were unfaithful to one another.  The parts that really bothered me was how Erickson portrayed her Aunt Olga as VERY liberal to the point that she would, assist Tatiana in her sexual escapades, and keep it from her family.

It just doesn't seem to fit Tatiana's character at all.  I remember an incident where Tatiana was so upset about a lude photo that was shown to herself and Olga, on the Standart I believe, not mention the guards off coloured joke that bothered her so in captivity.

The novel succeeded in making everyone in the Imperial Family look like insane, stupid and without a clue of ANYTHING at all.

Olga: 5'5.
Tatiana: 5'8.
Maria: 5'7.
Anastasia: 5'2.

Now that sounds more like it!

The bone measurement have Maria at 5'4 which I find IMPOSSIBLE considering the build of that girl!

When I see their feet I think they usually opt to wear mules (little tiny heels) or flat bottoms.

Anastasia had feet problems I can't imagine her wearing pinchy heels.

On this forum, I hear many estimates as to how tall the imperial children were.

To me to say that Olga was about 5'4 or any grand duchess was under 5'6  save for Anastasia , I have a hard time buying.

When I see the girls standing next to Nicolas, they are noticeably taller then he was.

Most stats put Nicolas at 5'6 or 5'7.

The Tsarina was even taller then Nicolas, according to some records.

So I am not sure that saying any of the girls except Anastasia were under 5'6 in height inaccurate.

If I am wrong then so be it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this !

I really do think it is Alix.  I mean we never really have seen her in such a act before maybe the face is a bit distoreted because she is being silly  ;D  Yes maybe Alix was doing her hair a different way circa 1910 but maybe one day she to hell with it I am on a boat no one will see me so I would like simple.

Let see, he should have never went to the front lines, he should have stayed, as it was his DUTY to run the country, as was advised by his ministers. He use to go on Vaccations far away from St. Petersburg, were everything was happening, I've read that he ignored most of his obligations while on Holiday.  To tell me I don't know what I am talking about is disrespectful.  I haven't said anything to that affect to any of you, if my opinion bothers, then don't let it.

What a time to get a sense of  duty.  He didn't have that sense of duty when his government needed to be tended too, even from the get go of his reign
