I couldnt modify my post properly, sorry about that.

Btw if Im not mistaken in early 1900's Tolstoy sends a letter to the Tsar, warning that autocracy is doomed and he has to give the nation its freedom to avoid a civil war. Maybe thats why Nkolay was not very complimentary.

I think they were reading Turgenyev often a lot, and Dostoyevsky and Turgenyev were sort of like enemies, and their writing & state of minds were too different, too. I guess they fancied Turgenyev better? Dostoyevsky is more like a ''common''man you know, perhaps that they felt Turgenyev closer to their life style and whatnot. I cant quite imagine a Tsar reading Crime and Punishment eventhough he's well educated.

Nicholas II / Re: TSAR VS CZAR

Hey Johnny,

I didnt say ''you'' said the word is pronounced like "zar". Its just T and  S together, in the beginning of the word is not common in latin alphabet , so its normal that people not knowing how to pronounce it, right ? ''Zar'' sounds more likely in English I guess. It's kind of like saying Nicholas instead of good old ''Nikolay''.

Best wishes.

Dunya.
unfortunately, or maybe fortunately Pushkin did not participate on mooning tzarina (Elisaveta Alekseyevna). But he was exposing himself to old countess Volkonskaya by mistake, he was trying to get with Catherine Bakunina, his first love, who was empress maid of honor.

 :-[ thanks vlad.

God I forgot Tsarkoye Selo is Pushkin (town) whilst reading this thread, such a fool I am.

I like the portrait, its lovely, I like the fact that you read a book then draw a portrait, more  indeed.
Rasputin was an interesting character really, I can see why he effected your art.

This movie is just brilliant, it is like an example of how a film should be.

I didnt like this movie.. It was quite an unnecessary drama in my opinion. Tsareubiytsa ( Asassin of the Tsar) and  Russkiy kovcheg
( Russian Ark) are really better and more accurate . Just wanted to state my opinion since everybody seems to like the movie..

Best wishes.

Hello all,
I dont know if anyone has translated this, on other threads,

Transcription:

Praises, officer's commands and hoorays for 1 min 50 sec

- 1:50 Brothers (an intimate version of the word, like buddies), thank you for the glorious parade!
- (soldiers)
- 2:09 Thank you brothers (ahain, buddies) for excellent manouevres!
- (soldiers)

I recommend to watch Alexander Sokurov's Russian Ark. It features a few scenes depicting NII and his family.

Thanks for sharing, I never heard his voice.

Best wishes.
