The whole crew out in full force (and looking their best) at The Derby.  Nice to the see the family in one place.

Overall I think the whole thing went off excellent, just some of my opinions:

1) Catherine looked great
2) I think of the Royals (foreign and British) I think Charlene Wittstock (soon to be of Monaco) and Princess Maxima looked the best
3) Beatrice and Eugenie...don't even know what to say but I do find it surprising that there seems to be nobody who can give them some constructive criticism
4) Some of the hats were so strange and maybe it's just me but I don't understand the idea of fascinators
5) The ride in the Aston Martin was a nice touch
6) Even though some people were not too fond of the trees in the Abbey, I thought they were great.  I also found the Abbey looking much better than it did back for previous weddings

I also have a few questions:

Did anybody else find it surprising that many foreign monarchs did not attend even though they all went to Princess Victoria's wedding? Is it because they are coming to the Jubilee?

And although I understand their desire for privacy I think some shots of the reception(s) should have been released.

Are there any more portraits of Karl Ludwig's first wife, Princess Margarethe of Saxony (1840-1858)? It's really a pity that Margarethe and her sisters (except for Maria Elisabeth) died young.

There are ones of each of the women separately but I don't know of any other group ones. I always wonder why this particular group? Alexandra's there but not Edward VII, the Connaughts aren't there along with the parents of the groom, neither of the bride's siblings are there but the grooms are and 2 cousins who she wasn't particularly close to (Louise and Toria) are in the photo.

Any of Alexandra in particular? I've always thought that this series along with the 1887 Jubilee series (with the Stars) are Alexandra looking her regal best.

And nice to talk to you again grandduchessella after a long time!

Great picture, Svetabel.

Victoria and Gustav with Queen Alexandra, Louise and Toria and their second son, Prince Wilhelm in 1905.

Does anybody have anymore pictures from this sitting by any chance (I've only seen the one of Alexandra with Toria and Louise)?

I have a question, why did Gustav and Victoria get married in Karlsruhe (in Baden) and not in Stockholm?

Quote
Ferdinand reported that Maria Theresia looked "sickly & puny" and his sister Louise called her "the little Austrian runt". Hardly flattering ...

I know that Wikipedia cannot be always trusted but the section on Ferdinand Philippe's marriage has a lot of interesting quotes form Louise who seems to have had a vitriolic tongue.

WOW! That's a great photo.  Queen Maria Teresa Isabella doesn't look too happy in any of the photos posted so far.

The Stuarts of Scotland / Re: Abigail Masham

You should watch the First Churchills (it is on Netflix), it really shows the rise of Abigail and the fall of Sarah very well.  I highly recomend the series to anybody interested in
Charles II/James II/William III/Mary II/Anne along with Sarah and Abigail.
