At least Irina's rooms faced the garden rather than the busy street. I remember we walked through huge gates from the road behind the palace to the garden.

Many thanks Tatyana for sharing your photos. The bottom one with the rare photo c1800s is wonderful. I will check the other photos I have collected on the Sheremetev palaces to see if I have that one.

Some of the musical instruments in the museum today belonged to the imperial family. I was just reading about Alexander III's clarinet.
