Having Fun! / Re: Romanov Family Dolls

Here is an article I wrote about the toys of the imperial children: http://www.theromanovfamily.com/romanov-family-toys-of-children-of-last-tsar/

I found it interesting that Olga's diary was full of references to her mother's health, whereas that comes more rarely into Tatiana's diary.

That's a good point!

Just some photographs from last week's Tatiana book lecture - Nick did a tremendous job! And of course APTM was mentioned at least a couple of times :) http://www.theromanovfamily.com/romanov-family-scenes-from-the-tatiana-lecture/

Thanks for letting everyone know about the free shipping, it could come in handy for those in Europe!

I just received my copy of the book this week and couldn't put it down!

Here's my review

thanks so much, Suzanne. So glad you have enjoyed the book. I personally think it's the best one yet, even if I say so myself :)

.. test Alexanders remains - so why not subject them all to the most rigorous testing possible , not just to establish their identity again , but to fully explore their genomes and wring as much information out of them as possible, while you have the final chance - they are of huge historical importance after all...

This would be very nice, but this is not their goal. Their goal is to retest everything to prove or disprove the authenticity of the remains, which they still question.

Same here.. I keep saying that it would have been so much nicer if this money was used to help the many needy people in Russia... But what else is new. Politics never changes.

Another update: "ROMANOV FAMILY: GRAND DUCHESS AND TSAREVICH REMAINS IN CUSTODY OF RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH": http://www.theromanovfamily.com/romanov-family-remains-have-been/

They closely examined the tomb and it was not opened at any point prior. Alexander III is in there and there is no question.  This was settled weeks ago.

Yes, I did a follow up story about that too! "ROMANOV FAMILY: TOMB OF ALEXANDER III WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY OPENED BY SOVIETS AFTER ALL" : http://www.theromanovfamily.com/romanov-family-tomb-alexander-iii-not-previously-opened-soviets/

Ah ok, its just a holiday backlog thing, thats ok, better later than never! Cant wait to get it, love your books! Got a collection going :D

I guess there are tons more letters and diaries in the GARF yet to be translated and published? Probably lots of photos unseen, too, do you have another book in the wings after this one?

LOL not even got it yet and already asking for more, can't help it, its just so neat there are more things yet to be discovered in GARF, i'd be like a kid in a candy store if i could read russian :P

Thank you for responding so quick, too, hope you have a great Christmas and New Years!

Thanks CG!

Hoping to do the Maria book next, if I can get her stuff from GARF!

From publisher:

"The book released a week ago but Amazon is in a state of disarray at the moment: their warehouses are so overbooked because of the holidays that trucks are not able to unload their cargo. Our book is stuck in their system; I have no idea if it will be available before Christmas or not due to their problems getting trucks in and unloading them. It is an industry wide problem at the moment. They will continue to take pre-orders, I am told, but it’s not the same as having the book available."

Dear CG, according to publisher book has been out for a week and they are sitting in amazon warehouse, but amazon is having some issues shipping them out: they are backlogged! This is not just an issue with the Tatiana book but apparently many others. Sorry about that!
