Dear Nelsky,

Your post is very moving.  I wish you all the best in your search and writings.  Although I can offer no assistance, your story is a very good example of why I, and I am sure many others, are interested in this topic.  I hope that there are others on this forum that can aid you in your quest and that we others will get to hear your story.  Best of luck!

So true, Annie!  I would think that many people would be interested in these fascinating stories of escape and survival.  Also, it is so interesting to see how people can adapt to such changed circumstances.  I also would be very interested in hearing about people's lives "before and after" the revolution.

That is the book that ignited my passion for Russian history!  I think it should be required reading in all world history classes.

Thanks again for your help  :)

That's wonderful, Ashdean.  Thank you very much!

Does anyone have any infomration and pictures of Camilla's private home (I forget the name)?  Also, does she spend much time there?

Thank you very much, Amelia!  I have already located the book on-line and have ordered it.

I have had no luck at our local or regional libraries with this topic.  Therefore, I was hoping that someone on this discussion board would be kind enough to list even a couple to get me started (that I could perhaps order on-line).  Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Absolutely!  Please share any links or book titles.  I have not had any luck in this area.

Thank you

Does anyone know of a link to personal stories of nobility escapes from the revolution?  Any books?

Thank you!

Speaking of a "royal store house" - does anyone know for sure where and how the royal jewels are stored at Buckingham palace?  Are there vaults in the basements?  Does the Queen have a massive jewel closet in her dressing room?  What about at the other royal residences?

Dear Grandduchessella & Ashdean,

You are both amazing!  Thank you for sharing your knowledge.  I have learned so much from you both (and others such as TampaBay, Emeraldeyes, etc.) over the past months. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ashdean, thank you very much!  This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for.

I am hoping this is the correct place to post my question....

Does anyone have any information regarding Diana's mother, Frances Shand Kydd?  I gather that she lived a very isolated life in her later years.  Did any of her children provide for her?

Hello, everyone!  This is my first post as a new member (after lurking around and learning so much from all you brillant people for a long time now).  Hopefully I am doing this correctly  :)

I am very interested in how the Yussupovs lived in exile, particularly Zinaida, but also Felix and Irena.  What type of homes did they have?  Servants?  What was their daily routine like?  We always hear how they "lost it all" but I would assume they still maintained a certain level of comfort - just not on the grand scale they had before the revolution.  Correct?

Thank you.
