Ever since I did a little rant about certain people a few years ago my forum post count has remained the same even though I have posted other threads since then.

Having Fun! / Google "Anastsaia Selfie" look what comes up!
« on: December 02, 2013, 04:36:41 AM »
So there have been things popping up on Facebook about historical selfies.

I wonder if the reporter got the idea to write an article on the Anastasia selfie after I commented as "Joan" on Daily Mail.    I wrote in the comment section after an article on "historical selfies" that Anastasia took a selfie. this was the 19th of Nov.

Low and behold the Daily Mail wrote an article by "Daily Mail Reporter" on the 26th of "Now that's a historical selfie! A teen Grand Duchess Anastasia is seen capturing her own reflection in 1913 Russia"

The information is sketchy because hello it's a "journo" who does not want to supply their own name.    It has since sparked an interest by other "journalists" on various websites who also have written articles.

Just thought I might have sparked a Romanov interest.  How amazing is that?

Having Fun! / Would we be interested about the IF if events did not happen?
« on: November 18, 2013, 01:29:07 AM »
Just a thought that occurred during dinner,  yeah I think to much lol.

If the revolution did not occur be it 1905 or 1917,  WWI/WII etc.  The Russian Empire would still be around in 2013,  would we today be interested in the Imperial Family?    NAOTMAA died natural or accidental deaths.  OTMAA married on and had children of their own etc.

Would the soap story of their lives be of interest?

To me I think I would be,  I like history and I like the current royals of around the world.

Tonight I watched Richard III: King in the car park.   It was amazing to see how they found him, used DNA to confirm his body and how they assembled his remains to be scanned along with reconstruction of his face.

Did anyone else in Australia see this tonight?

Imperial Claimants Post Here / Claimants on YOUTUBE and other sites.

While looking for various Romanov media scenes I came across this little gem...

I can't believe this person is claiming to be a 7 year old.   I am very certain a 7 year old would not be talking like that even if English is their second language and they chose a name like Sarah Lopez.

Has anyone else found anything like this?   I know I have seen a few in my time online.  If you have please share.

Going into the DVD store I found this thriller movie called Harlequin (1980).   It stars David Hemmings,  Carmen Duncan.

The plot goes like this:

When a prominent politician is somewhat mysteriously,  but apparently accidently drowned while scuba diving,  the press focus on the young Senator Nick Rast who seems strongly favoured to succeed the dead man and by doing so raise himself up another rung on the ladder of political power.

Rast,  whose marriage to Sandra was a political convenience,  nevertheless shares his spouse's concern over their young son Alex who is stricken with leukemia.  While doctors hold out no hope for the child,  Alex is visited by a strange, flamboyantly mystical faith healer, Gregory Wolfe whose administrations in the presence of his parents effect a miraculous recovery in the boy.

Wolfe's appearance at Rast's closely guarded mansion is made all the more astonishing when the Senator realizes he has managed to evade all the elaborate security systems in gaining entry.

Gradually Wolfe becomes part of the family circle and as Alex continues to gain strength and abnormal powers from his instruction and philosophy, Sandra falls more and more under his spell.   However Rast's political backers,  personified by the ruthless Doc Wheelan view Wolfe in a very different.   They begin to plot against him,   worried by Sandra's increasing dotage and dependence and her growing refusal to present a happily married front to the media.   Even Nick recognizes that Sandra's initial gratitude to Wolfe has turned to love.

Just stumbled across this book, which was published last year.  Never heard of Dora anyways here is the blurb of the story.

"The love affair between Nicholas II and Alexandra, the sickly heir to the throne, the influence of the enigmatic Rasputin on Russia and its Court, the Bolshevik Uprising that changed the face of history, the ruthless execution of the royal family, and the disputed survival of the heir: it's a cinematic chaos that the masterful Dora Levy Mossanen unravels for the reader. Seen through the eyes of Darya, Imperial Russia bursts into life. When the murderous events of 1917-18 unfold, Darya is haunted by the prophecy made by the Empress's advisor, Rasputin, and the hints to her true identity. She must find the missing Tsarevich Alexis Romanov and restore the monarchy, if she is to save herself. As in her previous novels, Mossanen draws on dramatic political history, romance, folklore to create a seductive tale of intrigue, love, sex, murder, violence and retribution."

Do you think it is worth buying?

Imperial Claimants Post Here / An Italian woman claimed to be Olga...
« on: August 14, 2012, 09:08:22 AM »
Came across this after someone posted a link on a Romanov fanpage.  This Italian lady claims she is Olga and escaped with Alexandra, Alexei, Tatiana, Maria to Perm.  Sadly with many evidence and knowledge that we know that the IF perished on July 17 1918 there is still people out there today who believe someone escaped.

Facebook fanpage of "I am Alive - Estoy Viva".   It was a memior published in the 50s in Italy.!/pages/I-Am-Alive-Estoy-Viva-The-unpublished-memoirs-of-the-last-Romanov/278177712297249

The Russian Revolution / The 1921 Famine
« on: November 14, 2011, 11:00:12 PM »
Hi all,

I decided to read some of my old Russian Rvolution books and was wondering what your thoughts are on the famine?   If the country was still Tsarist Russia do you think the people would not have gone into a famine?

Just asking as I came across a few photographs of people that had to revert to cannibalism.

Having Fun! / Guess my birthday based on these historical events.
« on: December 17, 2010, 07:02:06 PM »
I thought of this last night.

Tell us events that happened in history on the day you were born.   Only thing you can not do is in your clue say you share the same day birthday with any famous or historical people.   You can add that if someone answers your birthday correctly.  Also you can add in an event that happened before your birthday.

I'll start:

On the day I was born:

*In 1933  Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany.

*In 1948 Ghandi is assassinated.

*In 1969 Beatles perform last public performance.

Day before my birthday:
In 1975 16 year old Brenda Spencer is the first person to shoot children at a school.

Just notice the Romanov thread of look-a-likes,  I posted a pic of my bf a few years ago, he doesn't look like a Romanov.

However,  I was looking through a book of criminals and I had to do a double take at two photos of Charles Manson.

As my boyfriend is now 36 and is getting the lines of aging I had to say he is a doopelganger of crazy Charles Manson.   They both have their hair to their shoulders, beard and when he tilt's his head a certain angle.  It's like Woah.  I showed the pics of Charles Manson to a friend of ours and she cracked up laughing saying yes they look alike.

They may look alike but BF isn't a killer or mean.  Poor boyfriend was "I look more like Jim Carrey then Charles Manson."  I said "Sorry but your more like Charles Manson then Jim Carrey."

Having Fun! / How is everyone today?
