Only one bio on Grand Duke Alexei, extraordinary and sad person in the Romanov clan. His conflicting character and love drama in the early 20s made him a sort of white crow in the family. A lot of rare materials from the Archives and unique photos.

I have a question about the title.... Is "freilina" a lady-in-waiting or a maid-of-honour in Russian? Because I found both translations and I am not sure now.


Freilina is a maid-of-honour if speaking about a correct translation. It's an unmarried woman. A lady-in-waiting is a married woman.
