The Palace was seriously damaged, the interiors were lost. Here's a link to the article about the restoration of Monplaisir:

The second black-and-white photo is the damaged Palace in 1944.

I found this on a Russian auction site... some of their captions are not correct.
Is this really Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna, later Princess Nicholas of Greece and Denmark?
(I wasn't sure which Identification thread to post this on)

Yes, that's Elena.
7  Discussions about the Imperial Family and European Royalty / Marie Feodorovna / Re: Empress Marie Feodorovna - discussion and pictures, Part III on: May 09, 2013, 12:49:17 AM
On the siteallworldwars.com there is a section on Russo-Japanese war photos by Victor Bulla. One of them is a picture of what I think is Marie-Fed in front of her hospital train with some of her staff. It has the same writing on as a picture of her WW I era train in the Imperial transportation section. I don't have the computer skills to post it here but I thought you all would like to know.

There is no Empress Maria Fedorovna in those photos. Only her daughter GDSs Xenia with the staff of her train, and the other picture shows only staff of the Empress' train.
8  Discussions about the Imperial Family and European Royalty / The Hohenzollern / Re: Mecklenburg-Schwerin on: April 30, 2013, 11:11:09 AM
That's wife of Duke Paul Friedrich, as I see. Unusual portrait.

Princess Mary - the sister of the Duke Paul Friedrich. And his wife - Princess Alexandrine of Prussia, the younger sister of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, wife of Nicholas I.

I meant Princess Marie, nee Windiesch Graetz.
9  Discussions about the Imperial Family and European Royalty / Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna / Re: Books on Grand Duchess Elizabeth on: April 22, 2013, 12:51:51 PM
I can't remember where I read it but Ella's lady in waiting was called Kitty? Kitty who? ... How many ladies in waiting did she have and what were their names?

If you are ready to read Russian  : ) I can give you a link to the LJ pages with my research on every lady-in-waiting of GDss Elizaveta.

The list of the GDss' ladies-in-waiting (to be more correct - maids-of-honor):
Princess Lyudmila Lobanova
Ekaterina Kozlianinova
Princess Maria Troubetzkaya
Princess Alexandra Lobanova
Princess Sophia Schakhovskaya
Maria Toropchaninova

This man is identified as GD Andrei Vladimirovich , I have not found similar photos for comparison. Thanks

That's not him. Actually I even don't see any resemblance.
11  Discussions about the Imperial Family and European Royalty / Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna / Re: Grand Duchess Elizaveta - discussion and pictures PART IV on: April 19, 2013, 04:59:32 AM
It does look as if she's wearing that costume, or at least the artist's interpretation:

That's January 1894 year, ball-party at the Werigins (friends of the Grand Ducal pair). Grand Duke Sergei mentioned that ball and his wife's dress in his letter to his brother Pavel.
12  Discussions about Russian History / Russian Noble Families / Re: Need help with Kapnist family on: April 10, 2013, 12:41:12 PM
Thank you very much Sveta for your help!
His name should be Peter, but who knows really. Now I am waiting to have some papers from the Register office of the city of Turin where she died, maybe I'll find more...
Anyway her russian name was Daichinka. Is it a name or a nickname?
thanks again!

Daichinka is a nickname definitely, there's no such Russian name.

Also I've found that the Kapnist family is quite hyberbranched, they have Greek and Italian branches as well, so possibly your "Petr" was not exactly of a Russian origin/nationality.

Ground floor of the Palace

Floorplans as they were in 1869. In the top of the image is the 1st floor, to the bottom are ground floor and basement levels

14  Discussions about Russian History / Russian Noble Families / Re: Need help with Kapnist family on: April 05, 2013, 12:55:56 AM
I looked through the Kapnist genealogy and didn't find any Petr Kapnist matching to your Petr Kapnist. As well as any Dorothea (or possibly Daria in Russian).  Was his name really Petr?
15  Discussions about the Imperial Family and European Royalty / The Hohenzollern / Re: Question about and/or Help with Picture(s) on: April 02, 2013, 05:39:26 AM

Yes, that's Marie Windisch-Graetz  with Heinrich.
