Maria Nicholaievna / Re: Little Pair vs. Big Pair
« on: March 30, 2005, 01:03:02 PM »
I guess this had to do with the fact the most activities were planned that way... for the big pair and the little pair... especially when it came to classes....

I dont know if as they grew up, Maria still identified with Anastasia as much.....  any info on this?

That makes sense Bear.... to not bury all of them together

Also.. I suppose they were sort of trying not to be noticed.. and a fire, and the horrible smell of burning human flesh wouldnt help much....

Thanks for posting the complete picture!!!

It is just difficult to know "who to trust".... especially when even books have the captions wrong!

Well, I dont know where I stand on this subject.

I trully believe that had they thought about possibly being executed, they would have tried to escape (at least help the children escape).....  maybe while they still were in AP. I just cannot believe that they willingly accepted their fate, and took their children "along for the ride".

Aleksandra thought that the "real" Russians loved her, so I dont think she thought she would be killed (at least not during the early stages)

I also dont believe they thought the Revolution was what it became, and therefore expected to return to power, or at least be treated as ex-monarchs....

Yet, I havent read their diaries from the time of imprisonment, so I really dont know how much, if at all they wrote about what they thought could happen to them.

As has been said, they lived inside a bubble, and I think even though the bubble shrunk, they tried to still live in an imaginary world till the end... but that of course is my perception and I could be totally wrong.

For those of you who have read the diaries.. what do they say?

The Final Chapter / Re: Family Possesions

Some of these possesions were in trunks and they were sent to England, where GD Ksenia received them, and apparently burned all the clothes...

I thought this was interesting

With this reconstruction, you can really tell who is who....

I had never seen the finished reconstructions...

You are right, it is easy to make out the Tsar, because they have helped us with the beard and hair.

And Olga.... because her skull is just so different, as for the rest, it is really hard to tell them apart.... I thought Alexandra was Alexei or Tatiana... so....  but I suppose it is also because she doesnt have any extra skin and no wrinkles, and no hair...

However, based on THAT reconstruction, it is really hard to affirm that its  Maria missing....

Alexandra Feodorovna / Re: Empress Alexandra and General Orlov

I think all these "lovers"  were a "production"  by people who didnt want her in power... PERIOD.

Even if... supoosing, she didnt love Nicholas anymore, and fell inlove with someone, whoever else (which I think is impossible, but lets just think about it for a sec) ....  she didnt have the time, the energy, the privacy or the moral values (or lack of them to be more exact) to commit adultery....

Alexandra Feodorovna / Re: Alexandra and her Health
« on: March 15, 2005, 05:03:51 PM »
so.. opium, cocaine, valerian... no wonder she felt ill!!!

imagine that?? its like a drug cocktail form the 60's!!

Alexandra Feodorovna / Re: Alexandra's Personal World
« on: March 15, 2005, 04:26:50 PM »
It doesnt really seem like she liked to talk a lot.

Form what I gather, what she was seeking in Anya and others was COMPANY... not someone to actually talk to...

So I think she was a very quiet person, at least after becoming a mother....

Thank yous so much for all your replies!

She lookd stunning while pregnant... at least during the first ones...

Again.. thank you!

Having Fun! / Re: what romanov would u have liked to have known?
« on: March 15, 2005, 02:51:54 PM »

I would like to see the way she moved and walked

What her accent was liked

how tall and slender she really was... her skin and hair colour... and especially her eyes!!

So intrigued!!!
