Discussions about Russian History / Their World and Culture / Re: Russian and European Court Dresses

Hello, I hope this is the right area for this question to be posted. I am wondering about the court dresses of Europe during the 19th and early 20th century. I have seen pictures of British and Russian court dresses, and I think I recall seeing a picture of a Swedish court dress, but I can't be certain about that as it looked very similar to a Russian court dress.
I would greatly appreciate any pictures or info that anyone has about this subject. Thank you, and I'm sorry if this question has been asked previously.

My apologies for not responding to this thread earlier. I found this game fascinating in the respect that it is another cultures view of Anastasia, although I didn't like the way Alexandra was portrayed, and it was kind of strange that Anastasia develops a crush on a samurai.
The rating is "T for Teen"
Again I apologize for not taking part in a thread that I started.

I have only just seen this movie but I was truly amazed with it.
A scene which truly moved me was where an elderly Catherine the Great (one of my all time favourites) and a servant run through what I'm guessing is the courtyard and the narrator remarks "Mortals should not chase royalty, they can never catch them anyway" or somethig to that effect, as Catherine disappears into the distance. Very haunting.
A truly excellent movie that I would suggest to everyone.

Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Farquhar was instrumental in assisting Hamilton Gault in founding the regiment. Colonel Farquhar, Military Secretary to Canada's Governor General, the Duke of Connaught, asked the Duke of Connaught for permission to name the regiment after his daughter, Princess Patricia of Connaught. She was pleased to accept this honour and thus the Princess Pat’s were established.
Public Domain – Patricias' soldiers song from 1916
Chorus:
The Ric-A-Dam-Doo, now what is that? It's something made by the Princess Pat. It's red and gold, and purple-blue, And that's why it's called - the Ric-A-Dam-Doo. 1st Verse
The Princess Pat, Light Infantry They sailed across the seven seas They sailed across the channel too And they took with them - the Ric-A-Dam-Doo. 2nd Verse
Now Captain Jack, had a mighty fine crew, They sailed across the channel too. But his ship it sank, and yours will too, If you don't take - the Ric-A-Dam-Doo. 3rd Verse
The Princess Pat, saw Captain Jack. She reeled him in, and brought him back. She saved his life, and his crew's too, And do y’ know how?- with the Ric-A-Dam-Doo!
Princess Patricia designed and made by hand the regimental colours to be presented on that occasion. It is a crimson flag with a circular blue centre. In the circle are gold initials V P which stand for Victoria Patricia. The regimental colours became known as the "Ric-A-Dam-Doo". This colour was carried in every regimental action during World War I.

Geography was mentioned earlier, and here in Canada there is no end to locations named for royalty.
For instance: Alberta is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848-1939), the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. Princess Louise was also the wife of Sir John Campbell, who was the Governor General of Canada from 1878-1883. Lake Louise was also named in honour of Princess Louise.
Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) is named for Prince Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent and Strathearn (1767-1820), the father of Queen Victoria.
Prince Rupert British Columbia is named for Prince Rupert of the Rhine.
Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan, was named by Princess Louise in honour of her mother. Regina is latin for Queen. Reginans commonly refer to Regina as the "Queen City".
Charlottetown P.E.I. was named in honour of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, consort of King George III of the United Kingdom.
There are more than I have listed here but I unfortunately don't have the time to list them all.

Hello all. While searching through Amazon for various books I happened across this one. NIKOLAI DANTE: THE ROMANOV DYNASTY. It is a graphic novel from DC comics. This is the description from DC's web site.
"Russia, 2666 A.D.: Where a man can become a legend if he's fool enough to stake his life on it. That man is Nikolai Dante — lover, rogue and thief, son of a pirate-queen and altogether too cool to kill!
Created by Robbie Morrison (BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS) and Simon Fraser (Lux and Alby), this collection features art by Chris Weston (THE FILTH), Charlie Adlard (THE ESTABLISHMENT) and Henry Flint (Judge Dredd/Aliens).
When chance leaves him working with the Tsar's beautiful daughter Jena, Dante — discovers his heritage — bio-bonding with the alien Weapons Crest, which grants him astonishing abilities. But with the new enemies he's making — much less the family he never knew about — can Dante keep his head? 2000 AD | 192pg. | Color | Softcover | $19.95 US | Mature Readers.
