Oh, I would LOVE to see! Those are my favorites! I've often thought of doing them, but needed the right dolls to do so.
All the best, Tasha_R
Sure one day when I get the dress done – maybe in a year lol. so far its half done, got the stuff but since I’m new at sewing and using no patterns since there is none, it’s hard, I get a doll dress that is puffy and sliverly ball gown (but mordern) from Michaels (an art store) which was $7 American dollars - which I cut, mended and pull inside out to make some value in the shirt, and made a bodice with it and added fake fur I now have to repair, and still having issues making a train but made an awesome Kokoshnik with fake pearls with I am still working on... and I use American girl doll height and such..There 18 inches doll which is kind of easy to find things for it. The dress is sliver and a dusty pink like the real ones. However mine has fur trim, pearls, jewelry design patterns more like the adult Russian court dresses.

The above picture recently made its way to my Facebook page because I've "Liked" a particular page (Almanac Gotha, I believe). The beautifully colored gown on Alix reminded me of the Victorian mauve she liked so very much. I am currently involved in a sewing project using second hand sari's to create different things (see www.sarifixation.com for specifics). I created a gown from a mauve and gold sari that I think Alexandra would have been proud to have worn. The border design even features something which looks very much like the symbol for the cherubim; something which plays in the worship of the Russian Orthodox Church. As I haven't posted pictures or url's here for a long time, I hope I am doing this correctly. To view my creation, and the doll I created to resemble Alix, you can go to: http://www.sarifixation.com/show_proj.php?action=show&target=85If I did my photo album on Shutterfly correctly, you can also see one of the pictures there: With sincerest regards, Tasha_R THATS BEAUITFUL great job!! i myself is working on a court dress like the ones OTMA wore in 1911.

I know the name means Peace, Eric. i was only wondering if she was either named after her aunt or the saint. as for the Elisabeths, yes i am aware, however since the little Hessian Princess died months before the Greek Princess was born, its a possibility or the Prince and Princess Nicholas just like the name (and that it was popular name in the Russian/Greek Orthodox Church) and named her like how they named their youngest daughter Princess Marina, after Saints.
thanks.
anyways back to topic, sorry for the little side track.

I wonder since I never read or heard if Princess Irene was named after her aunt-by marriage Irene of Hesse, since Royals name their children after relations or after the Saint Irene? like her cousin Marina was named after the popular Greek Saint Marina.
also and a bit off topic, the little Princess Elisabeth of Hesse, she died in 1903, and her mother was close friends (also first cousin and later sister-in-law) with Elena Vladimirovna, was Elisabeth of Greece was named after the late little Hessian Princess?

I saw on Marlene's blog that John van der Kiste has written a short e-book (60,000 words with 6 illustrations) on Charlotte and Feo called Charlotte and Feodora: A troubled mother-daughter relationship in imperial Germany. It's only a $1.99. It's gotten mixed reviews (just 2 so far total though) but I took a leap since it's only $2. I just thought I'd pass it on to anyone looking for a quick royal book--provided they have an e-reader. It will be interesting, seeing as we hear about how hard it is to get non-NAOTMAA books published, if more authors go this route either with short books or full-length ones. Marlene has an article she wrote on the Gleichens available for download as well.
I ordered the book on Kindle last night, so far I love it!! I like Mr. Van der Kiste's writing style very much.
