WOW! Well, I finally got round to reading The Romanov Conspiracy. Actually, I read it TWICE. It ranks not only among the best books I have read, but also the best books on the Romanovs.
It's a story about a last ditch rescue attempt to save the Romanovs orm execution and it's based on much fact, apparently.

I'm posting some info here on the author, and on the video for the book, published by Simon &Schuster, so that people can see the excellent reviews for themselves.

It's simply a tremendous book. The story of the Romanov executions is well known but Meade inbues it with great a fresh eye, and takes the reader on an incredible journey
that keeps them not only on the edge o their seat, but desperately interested in the other main characters in the story, apart from the Romanovs.
What makes this stroy so incredibly good is the fact that many of the characters existed--I actually drove to the town of Collon yesterday to see the graves o one o the protagonists!!
I'd be very interested to hear what others think o this book. Right now, it's my favourite Romanov book ever!

I haven't heard of that book. Stepan. Is it in print, or otherwise available?? These Russian emigre graves at Collon sound sort of fascinating. I just read on Meade's website www.glennmeadeauthor.com a blog entitled 'Anatomy of a story: The Romanov Conspiracy' in which the author talks about the graves and the inspiration for the story, and his new book. Meade appears to have some really good reviews for his other books, and a reputation for excellent research, thought I haven't read any of his work. Maybe it's not up to much but I'm going to look into it a little more. Apparently, there were a lot of business connections between that part of Ireland--including Northern Ireland, and Russia in the early 1900's, in horse-breeding and flax, which is all news to me. being a native. Looking forward to reading Meade's book and investigating it a little more...I live not too far from Collon. May take a drive there and take a look for myself...

Thank you! I'm fascinated by anything to do with Russian history and most especially the Romanov era.
I'll get round to reading the book soon as I have a few days off.
What's the FA, pardon my ignorance and a rookie!

Has anyone read a new book just published on the Romanovs? It's called the Romanov Conspiracy and looks extremely interesting.
What drew me to it was I flicked to the back and saw The Alexander Palace forum gets a mention!
The story has to do with a last minute rescue attempt to save the Romanov royal family, and it's largely based on fact.
It opens in present day Ekaterinburg, and then moves to Ireland, to the graves of a group of Russian emigres who were involved in the plot to rescue the Tsar, before it flashes back into the past to tell the rescue attempt, proper.
There seems to be a strong element of truth involved--I actually know the graveyard and the Russian emigre graves the author talks about--they're in Collon, in Ireland, which is what intrigued me, as there has always been something of a mystery about the graves.
Seems like a fascinating story and I just wondered if anyone had read it yet and what their thoughts were, and had they heard about this rescue attempt??
