Such a sweetie...I think there might be a little resemblance in the mouth and nose to Queen E. II childhood photos but its too early to say that for sure...
With that Crowd and all those Photographers, TV People from around the World I don't think there was a way for Kate to do that! Just in the U.S. We had practically half the Media over for the Wedding! I think it went off perfectly and like clock work but I know the channel I watched insinuated Security was sweating it... Love all the photos...I thought about Princess Diana that day! And I don't know how much it was covered... but here they had a Commentator Guest who knew Princess Diana. They commented on seeing Prince William under a little stress that day, chew his lip at the Altar and some other things that reminded them of Princess Diana in body language. Prince William used to have a lot of Diana's gestures...
Thank you Burgogne for finally identifying the Painting! That was quite a little mystery and explains a lot about the confusion if both of the other Paintings were the same Person!
Congratulations to the happy Couple...as you know by now the engagement ring is the late Princess Diana's. Prince William said it was a way of keeping his Mother close as She could not be there! I thought it was extremely thoughtful and sweet of him to feel he needed to include his Mother in some way in his Wedding. As to the ring I hope their Marriage will be so happy it will change the image of the ring from one of a failed Marriage to one of a successful one...
I have read other Memoirs by Members of the Court but I personally like and find these Memoirs to be necessary reading. Historians still value these! Like anyone trusting from their own opinions and memory there may be a mistake or two but it would be that way if a current Journal were published two hundred years from now. Thank you for bringing these to the attention of those that have not read them.
on Victor Amadeus III and Maria Antoinetta of Spain "The couple surrounded themselves with modern thinkers and various politicians. The first lady of the land, she bought a rigid etiquette to the court of Savoy which had been adopted from her native Spain.[13] She was a very religious woman and was noted as having a cold personality as well as being very shy."[13] # ^ a b Artemont. Louis Leopold d' :A sister of Louis XVI, Marie Clotilde of France, Queen of Sardinia (1759-1802), 1911, p 111
I cannot verify this as I do not have this Book but maybe you could track it down!
My my...we have all wondered to the Cologne discussion (wink) well I love lemony/citrus scents at present and am working my way through Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden. I recall Madame Montespan liked Citrus and her favorite was in the orange range. I am not quite sure I am going to stay with Green Tea though and I am always looking!
