have these remains been interred with the rest of the family in the Saint Peter and St Paul Cathedral on the Fortress Island in St Petersburg?
It would be good to know that the whole family is together.

Not yet, as far as I know. I'm sure they will be together some day. But it might take a while.

Re Reply # 274 and "Alan":   No, "Alan," the remaining two sets of remains have not yet been buried in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul.  No particular date has even been proposed, to my knowledge.  Regards,  AP.

It's been more that three years since I made the first post in this thread, and I was saddened to discover that the remains STILL have not been laid to rest. So slowly move the rusty wheels of bureaucracy. I look forward to the post informing us that this has finally been accomplished. May the children rest in peace.

The main grave was dug up in 1991 and they were in the morgue for about 7 years until buried in 1998. Let's see if the secondary grave's contents take that long.

For whatever it's worth, I am sure that Alexei and Maria have been resting in peace. What is going on with their physical remains has more to do with the politics of today's Russia than anything to do with these two young people.

Exactly, Lisa. The bodies were just a physical shell for them but their souls have long been in peace. Regardless of the time it'll take to bury them, the discovery of the bodies in the main grave took much longer than the time it was buried.

This really upsets me to think that they left the youngest children out, seperated from their family after all these years...I hope that it happens. I mean...it's absolutely necessary.

Re Reply #276:  Why allow yourself to become upset?  Don't lose your emotional objectivity. IMO, of course you may express your opinion (if that makes you feel better), but neither you nor anyone else here, united or singularly, have the power to change things in this instance.  The bones are in the possession of Russia, who will in their own good time, handle it.  Regards, AP.

Yes, I feel the same. On the one hand I'm upset, because I don't know what is taking them so long. On the other hand I know that it is simply not in our hands. It could happen in a few months or it could take several years. But I'm sure the bones are in good hands in Russia. ;-)

In our way of thinking the bones should have been buried with the rest of the family before now. However thanks to a change of regime there, they are safe now but they do not seem to think the same way as us. I wonder how many Russians are anti-Royal these days?

I know they haven't been buried yet, but I wonder where their skeletons are right now?

Well, good question. I'M 90 % sure that they're in Russia right now, but I don't know where exactly. I hope there will be some news early next year.
