Wikipedia Editing Proves a Royal Embarrassment

Oops.  The Netherlands royals stick their feet in it.

Here's the link:

Here's the first paragraph:

The temptation to spin can be impossible to resist even for royalty. This seems the lesson to be gleaned from the new WikiScanner, which revealed earlier this week that a Wikipedia article about a 2003 scandal in Holland was scrubbed clean by the subjects of the entry themselves, the Dutch royal family.

Not the Dutch Royal Family as such, just two,the rest must be a bit embarrassed me thinks..It was Prince Friso and Princess Mabel trying "to set a record straight",Friso had to renounce his rights to the Throne as it was disclosed Mabel had given incomplete information to the PM in the running up to their marriage about a certain time in her past in which she was involved with a crook, not just a crook, but the godfather of crime in the netherlands in his hayday who was later shot as he left the Amsterdam Hilton, iirc in 1994.In a letter to the PM in 2003 they admitted to have given incomplete information, but in his statement the PM added:"incomplete and false", Mabel deleted the "and false" bit as that was not in the original letter.(Instead of leaving it at that...)

Anyway, she's not the most popular member, and she's even less now.The couple is of no consequence to the Monarchy as such as they are not members of the Royal House/in line to the Throne, but they are members of the Royal Family, there's a difference. To use a PC at the private residence of HM was rightdown stupid and they must have thought they could get away with it,they almost did, till that wikiscanner came along. How the general public feels about it?Honestly, they couldn't care less for the two, they live in London, both have high profile jobs, but we hardly ever hear/see them here.Just as well.

(See the Benelux thread under "Queen Juliana's Grandchildren part II".)
