Really, Eric?  How interesting.  Can you please tell me where you read that?  I'd love to read it myself.  And BTW, it's Catherine, not Katherine.  Just FYI.

I think it was Katherine. She was Kate not Cate.

I'm afraid you are mistaken Eric.  The Duchess' given name (and proper spelling) is Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.  Check the Times, every page and press release on the British monarchy website, or frankly any other official source, and you'll see the same.  Kate (spelled with a K) is a common nickname for someone named Catherine - regardless of how Catherine is spelled.

As to your quote of an apparent quote of the Duchess of Cornwall, please cite a reputable source for this!  The clear inference of what you wrote was that Camilla was making such a comment in a disparaging reference of the Middleton's lack of aristocratic blood.  I flat out do not believe this.  Say what you might about Camilla, she has NEVER been quoted in a reputable publication saying anything negative or disparaging about another person - in fact, her quotes and behaviors suggests quite the opposite is true - that she is a very humble lady who wouldn't give a fig if somebody's bloodline was less than blue.

Save your breath my friends. It is a known fact that Mr E. Lowe never ever listens and to make his point will often make things up to support his assertions, this supposed comment from the lovely Duchess of Cornwall is a classic example. As if she would ever say such a thing. It's laughable!!!  Grin Grin Grin

With all the publicity surrounding the Duchess of Cambridge you would have to be from Mars not to know her name is spelt with a C.

*Sigh* These things are sent to try us.......... Wink

Camilla's maternal grandfather was a Baron but her grandmother Sonia Keppel divorced him while her father in law was still alive so was never a Baroness only the Honourable Mrs Cubbitt and I too do not believe Camilla made such a remark.

Camilla was quoted in that remark when Kate's coal mining ancestry was all over the papers. It is a fact through Camilla's grandmother was even rumored to be the love child of Edward VII, so she was kind of an "insider" as far as royalty is concerned. Prince Charles also bought back some of the jewels that Edward VII gave to Alice Keppel. So apart from what the Queen has let her "borrow" from the Royal Jewelry pool, she has her own sparklers (in which Kate does not).

I don´t know what papers you read...  It is also possible that the Duchess of Cambridge has her own "sparklers" too, but that she has not yet worn them in public.

I think a few smaller pieces have already appeared when Camilla was still "the girlfriend". She also have her own jewels like the aquamarine and pearl choker...

I've been a forum member for about five years now.  As you all can see, I rarely post.  But I read….a lot.  I've learned who is a fan of Prince Albert Victor, Vicky, Grand Duchess Ella.  I've learned who loves Queen Mary and who doesn’t. I’ve also learned that the majority of the members are very well read, informed and some are indeed authors themselves. This is my opportunity to say “thank you” to you all.  You welcome all discussions, whether the member has a difference of opinion or not.  I am grateful that if someone posts a statement as fact, the only thing other members ask is that it be verified.  To me, this is the true definition of “intelligent discussion.” And I do so enjoy it.  I will admit to sometimes being intimidated by the level of knowledge here.  Which is probably the main reason I don’t post much, but I do try to check my facts or read the old threads to see if the topic has been addressed elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I have also learned there are some members who post just to be posting, who rarely check their facts and like to spread gossip or rumors and some who just seem to pull things out of thin air.  Luckily this is the minority.

Now, back to the jewels.  Please forgive me if I’ve missed this, and if it has been discussed before if someone would be kind enough to point me in that direction..but do we know if Catherine received some jewels as wedding gifts from others outside the RF, like the beautiful necklaces the Duchess of Cornwall received for her wedding?

Thank you all……I am honored to be a member.

OctoberLily, I too am in awe of the knowledge that some of the experts have on jewelry and I thank all of them for sharing this knowledge! Like you, I too do not post much, but am an avid reader!

As to the other issue; just scan over it, not worth reading it, as most can't be backed up by facts. I guess facts do not come into play by this 'author'......... Wink

OctoberLily, wonderful post! Thank you.

Do you remember a few months ago the Duchess of Cambridge wore a black evening gown with a beautiful diamond necklace. It was apparently a gift from a family friend.

Thank you aor and Eddie_uk for your kind words!

Eddie, you are right.  I can't believe I forgot about that......she was absolutely stunning in that black velvet Alexander McQueen gown!  I found this link http://www.glamazondiaries.com/2011/12/catherine-duchess-of-cambride-wears-alexander-mcqueen-to-night-of-heroes-the-sun-military-awards/that shows the whole ensemble......and was reminded that there was a matching bracelet to go with that necklace.  I wish we could get a better look at those earrings, though.  Has anyone heard anything about those?
