Thank you for clearing up that name, Dasha. What reminded me of Rasputin was that I saw that the Bulgarians' uniform looked like Aleksei's/Nicky's military clothing. And then I saw Karkaroff... Shocked

Char?
Never thought about this, but, no I don't think so.
Charlotte is so thin, Maria was not that thin. And Maria's face was more round.

I think that Char has Maria's nose. But, I have to agree with Jelisaveta, she is too thin. She'd have to be fattened up for the "movie".  Wink Wink
On the second pic, that's where she resembles Maria slightly...But her lips are WAYYYY TOOOO BIG.

Definitely Michael Jayston!   Cheesy

Only thing I didn't like were his over-exaggerated
eye rollings - he looked like he was having a seizure
sometimes!   Roll Eyes

Other than that, I thought he was the perfect actor
visually to play Nicholas - had the same gentle, tender
manner also.

I think Mary Steenburgen has a resemblance to Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna, but I don't think that Marie had a southern drawl! Marie Feodorovna:

Anna Popplewell from the movie "Chronicles of Narnia" looks like Maria:

When she was younger, Charmian Carr(she plsyed Liesl in "The Sound of Music") would have been a good Tatiana.

But what about her british accent? No I don't think she would be a good choice. I think she would be a better young Tatiana.

They did?
I know that Aleksandra did, but this is new to me.  Huh
Well, if true, then, no wonder that in movies they were portrayed with British accents, but even Nicholas was.
I think that Natalie Portman would make a GREAT Tatiyana!! What do you guys think? She would be pretty good for any other of OTMA, too.

But, if NOTMAA were born in Russia, wouldn't they speak English with a Russian accent?
::)whatever.
I think that Johnny Depp( Kiss) would make an AWESOME Rasputin.  Grin
And he would also make an ok Nicholas II.  :-/
