Never thought about this, but, no I don't think so.
Charlotte is so thin, Maria was not that thin. And Maria's face was more round.

I think that Char has Maria's nose. But, I have to agree with Jelisaveta, she is too thin. She'd have to be fattened up for the "movie".  
On the second pic, that's where she resembles Maria slightly...But her lips are WAYYYY TOOOO BIG.

Definitely Michael Jayston!  

Only thing I didn't like were his over-exaggerated
eye rollings - he looked like he was having a seizure
sometimes!  

Other than that, I thought he was the perfect actor
visually to play Nicholas - had the same gentle, tender
manner also.

Well, the girls did speak English with a British accent (have no clue what sort, exactly, but there you go!).
