Richard Cox

Does anyone know anything more about Richard Cox? I know that he was Henry VIII's chaplain, Edward VI's teacher, Bishop of Ely, exiled during Mary's reign and Dean of Oxford. I would really appreciate anything you have to share!

Dr. Richard Cox was senior tutor  to Edward VI of England. Cox had been educated at Eton and had been Headmaster there. It is said that his pupils profited much by his instruction.  He taught the Prince Religion and Manners. He was a native of Buckinghamshire and of "low extraction." He was a very learned and convinced Protestant which of course would have been of the greatest importance in the Teachers of Edward VI.  Dr. Cox was Archdeacon of Ely and in 1546 he became Dean of Christ Church.
