I never thought about planning for 2018, but that makes a lot of sense.  It gives me time to plan and to save and to perhaps join a group from the forum who might be interested in going together.

I will not be young in 2018 and that fascinates me.  I hope that I am still able to travel such a long distance at that time.

I agree. Perhaps the board could get toegther and arrange grops from each country to travel to Ekaterinburg etc. I will be 60 then but would drag myself to Russia if I had to.

For those of us in England perhaps we could plan this?

I am 27 now, so I'll be 37 in July 2018. I will certainly be there, but I am sure I will be going back to Russia before the 100th anniversary.

Thank you for that link Lucien! Here is an article from The Moscow Times that ran on July 18th.

Indeed, I said a prayer for all of them the 16th, 17th and 18th. Can't rememer Grand Duke Miichael's dying day, wasn't it july the 1st? But I might be wrong here, I should check one of my books to be sure.

And I intend going in 2018 for the 100th annivursary, I'll be 28 then so with some luck i should be able to go. And as it is said before, it would be nice if we could go with people of the forum, maybe arranged by country and then meet up in Russia But i would love to go then(maybe even earlier if i can plan it)

I think the idea of members going as a group by country is great and will no doubt happen. Might try and go before as well. Even if on a zimmer frame by them they can wheel me there...

Good question. I've only heard he was shot, but what happened with his body is a mystery to me. Probably buried, but i Wonder is there ever been searched seriously for his body? They should have some chance's on finding it with modern-day techniques. And I wonder, does anyone know what happened with him after he got shot, are there some testimony's of it?

July 27, 2008
Abstract: (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Russiaís capital believe the execution of Nicholas II of Russia and his family was a crime, according to a poll by Bashkirova & Partners. 58.7 per cent of respondents in Moscow feel this way, while 27.5 per cent believe the incident was justified by political circumstances.
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Russiaís capital believe the execution of Nicholas II of Russia and his family was a crime, according to a poll by Bashkirova & Partners. 58.7 per cent of respondents in Moscow feel this way, while 27.5 per cent believe the incident was justified by political circumstances.

Nicholas II abdicated in 1917, pressured by the Bolshevik revolution. The political movement led by Vladimir Lenin brought an end to Czarist domination, and established the Soviet Union. Nicholas II, his wife and five children were arrested and then executed by the Bolsheviks on Jul. 17, 1918, along with their servant and their physician.

When asked about the restoration of the monarchy in Russia, 39.6 per cent of respondents say it is unlikely to happen and they would feel negatively about it, while 19.2 per cent also claim it is unlikely to happen but they would feel positively about it.

On Jul. 17, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovnaóa direct descendant of Nicholas IIósaid Russians should still consider the restoration of the monarchy, declaring, "Itís for the Russian people to decide themselves if this option suits them. (...) It gives a nation something eternal they can rely on. (...) Forgive me, as head of the imperial house I couldnít think otherwise, but itís our people who should choose for themselves."

Ilias_of_John, that's very interesting poll information you have there.

It has been my experience with Russians that many do not like the idea of Imperial Rule, or the Romanovs, or anything. I would be interested in meeting some of these people, it would be refreshing!

A good friend of mine, ironically enough, named Maria Nikolaevna, told me that to proclaim your love of the Tsar or Imperialism in Russia is suicide. Perhaps some people here could give me different views?

Thanks for posting Ilias_of_John, I'll be saving that information for myself! :)
