"Stolypin. Nevyuchennye uroki" ("Stolypin. Unlearned lessons")

"Stolypin. Nevyuchennye uroki" is a serial film about Peter Stolypin and S.R. terrorists. It basically concerns Stolypin, but there are several episodes where Nicholas II appears. And I am to say his make up was very well. It seemed to me that I really saw the Emperor Nicholas!

A friend of mine has this film on DVD. I hope I'll show you some screen shots very soon.
As far as I know the film is available only in Russian and there are no subtitles. Maybe I am mistaken.

Well, here it is: the album

- some shots from this film.
I think Mikhail Eliseev has a strong resemblance to Nicholas II. But for some reason he tries to look very arrogant. According to all memoirs, the Emperor Nicholas never was proud. Nor was he gloomy.
And such long moustaches look like a caricature :)

Yuri Kuzin, the director of the film, said:
"Misha Eliseev as Nicholas II is of genius. He applies paints gently, with a thin brush… Then he glazes them, bringing a shape to perfection. Something of Leonardo da Vinci's "sfumato" is in his half-tints. The blood of the Merovings seethes in his veins. A Pre-Raphaelite grace is in his plasticity. An amazing, meticulous, subtle actor. His Nicholas is intelligent, artful, ambitious. He knows his future, does not avoid actions, he is not frightened as Romashin in "Agoniya" ("Agony"). He is a personified aristocratism, carried to an extreme. He is the illness itself, the result of tragic split between West and East, Byzantium and Barbarism…"
