I have biography of Alexander III written by Bokhanov, in the Russian language. It was published in 2001. Perhaps an English translation is warranted to grab a wider audience?

In all seriousness, probably not (sniff sniff).  I have the 1894 Charles Lowe bio on Alexander III.  Nothing to write home about.  Book translations are expensive, let alone securing rights - and publishers are not keen on doing this because the market is so small.

Aahhh, that must be the book accompanying the A Royal Family television series. Great series, by the way, especially the episode on Queen Alexandra of England. :D

Yes, it is.  I ordered mine from Gad, a Danish bookstore chain.

My hubby ordered the dvd of A Royal Family for me, for Christmas! I just can't wait to see it! I wonder if and when it will be shown over here in England?

A Royal Family has been seen several times on British tv - first in October 2003 on the History Channel UK, and more recently on Discovery Channel Europe.

Alicky, where do you order it from? It sounds good, I want to check it out. Is it available in the States?

Oh--I never knew it was shown here in the UK! You see, we live in the Dark Ages--we don't have cable tv! ;)

Helen, it's for sale in Majesty magazine--you can go to their website at majestymag.com (I think that's it) I'm pretty sure it will play on American dvd players.

A Royal Family WILL NOT play on American dvd players.  It is PAL/Region 2 only.   One needs an all-region/code free dvd player that has a converter.

Thanks, guys. My laptop can play all regions and I plan on getting a universal DVD player soon.

Playing all regions is one thing ... but you still need to have a converter for the PAL to the NTSC

Thanks, Marlene. I will have to look into that when I start shopping for a DVD player, which I hope will be soon.

I agree with Belochka, I would love to see a cheaper version  published of the tercentary balls. That would make an excellent addition to a massive collection of Romanov books.

A book on the Grand Dukes Pter and Nicholas Nicholovich would be welcome.

Add to this fantasy wish list a well-researched book on Sergei Alexandrovich, which would help put to rest so much of the specualation surrounding his life. The man is such an enimga. I would like to read his diary entries and letters to get a better glimpse of his character, in his own words. Ideally, this book would also make a convincing and well-researched case for or against whether he was or wasn't gay, which is of course one of the lasting questions surrounding him. Perhaps some obscure diary entries or letters could be found strongly suggesting this was the case. On the other hand, nothing at all could be found, thus further strengthening the case against it. I personally don't really care if he was or wasn't, but as it is a lasting question about him, I would like to see a concrete answer. Also interesting would be access to his medical records, to check whether he had some sort of disease that would have caused him to be infertile. Of course, this kind of information may never be brought to light, but as I said it is a "wish" list.
