I am researching my grandmother's life and on her C.V she says she attended the College of Grand Duchess Xenia in Kazan. I have only located this college in St Petersburg.

I am interested in any information anyone might have about the college - St Petersburg and / or Kazan.

I expect she was there sometime between 1912 - 1917.

Thanks

There was Kseniinskiy Institute in St-Petersbourg in 1895-1917 years, which had its place in Nikolaevskiy Palace, former family Palace of the Nikolayevitchi branch of the Romanovs (now Dvorets Truda). Grand Duchess Xenia was a patroness of the Institute.
The pupils were girls, daughters of poor officers and non-militray officials,  who then graduated as teachers and governesses .

Thankyou for your response. Have you any idea where I would get anymore information about this school? What is the building used for today?

This is how the Kseniinskaya school looked in the early 1900s:

The building currently holds the Kazan' Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Science.

Amongst the pupils of the Xenia Institute in St Petersburg was the noted writer E M Almedingen (1898-1971)who later emigrated to UK in 1922.

Hi, Larkins, do you speak Russian?

Here are some links about it:

It Is, generally, about women upbringing in Russian empire, Empress Marie Feodorovna, GD Xenia Alexandrovna, among them is that Kazan 2nd Gymnasium named of GD Xenia Alexandrovna. Hope I helped.  ;-)
