I found a Russian copy of the photo. It lists the people as:

Standing: GD Michael Alexandrovich w/ Irina Alexandrovna, Prince Nichlas of Greece, Nicholas II, Princess Victoria of Wales with Prince Viggo of Denmark, George I of Greece, Prince Waldemar of Denmark.
Seated: Empress Alexandra, GD Alexander Mikhailovich (Sandro) with Andrei Alexandrovich, GDss Xenia, Prince Axel of Denmark, Queen Alexandra, Prince Feodor Alexandrovich, Christian IX of Denmark, Empress Marie
Foreground: GDss Olga Alexandrovna, Princes Aage and Erik of Denmark (sons of Waldemar)

Grandduchess Ella, I really do like that picture because everyone seems so happy and relaxed.  The smiles on the faces of the young Danish princes next to Olga are so normal and happy.  They look like typical boys.

The photo of Alexandra coming up the ship's ladder is my favorite of her.  Again, she just looks like a nice person who's coming by for a chat.  And yes, I did notice gap between her teeth.

Who is the military figure who has given her his arm in the picture posted by Angie?

I think that's actually Christian IX of Denmark, her grandfather-in-law.

Really?  In looking at him closely, I don't see the resemblance to Christian IX.

This has been such a great thread! I have often thought it interesting that Alexandra doesn't seem to smile in many of the photo's. She looks like she is in a bad mood most the time, but those around her seem happy. However, these pictures have made me see such a reall side to her. I have to wonder if she was one of those people who's general 'countenance' was always serious or concerned. I have an aunt and a niece who I don't see often and when I do I have to get used to the facial expressions all over again. This is because they have an almost worried look when in repose. I am wondering if this is the same with Alexandra as it seems to be in some photos. Of course, the strain of her own health and that of her son and her naturally serious personality may have something to do with it. But I couldn't help but think perhaps her expression did look that way much of the time.

I don't know if it was posted here because somehow I can't get the pictures to load, but  there is a picture of Alexandra on a beach reclining while a young boy with his back to us (her nephew?) is speaking to her. That picture is one of my fav's. She is listening with interest to this young boy as he gestures telling her something no doubt very important to him. She takes him seriously. You can see she loves and enjoys children.

Thanks again for the lovely photos,

Alix is on the one closest to the camera, I think.  They're on the Standart.
