It is. He did the Prussians (Fritz, Vicky, Willy & Charly) which led to his commissions for the Wales and then the Hesse family. QV had all 3 hanging in connecting rooms (but the roosm where open so you could see them all). All 3 paintings--including a postcard that shows the rooms--are on various threads.

Just another Eddy/Freddie Windsor likeness that I was struck by...

If you were nervous to approach his cousin the Earl of St Andrews when he came in your bookstore, what on earth would you do if Freddie came in.  Wink Cheesy

I was invited to Andrew Cook's book launch last week but was sadly unable to attend.  I'm seeing him tomorrow and will check to see if it's being published in the US and about availability generally in UK.

I love that painting. It hangs in the entrance at Sandringham Smiley

Here's the picture where you can see the 3 pictures. I think there's also the Winterhalter of Helena, Alfred and Louise.

Eddy on his deathbed.

Not sure if this has been posted before. I know some people can get a little squirmish at pics like this, so I apologize for that.

This supposedly comes from Maud's personal albums, as pictured in a Norwegian book Kongstanken

Keith, thank you for posting this moving photo of dear Eddy.  I have never seen it though thought one must have been taken, as was the custom at the time.  The scene was also sketched by an artist.

Still, I gasped when I saw it...though he does look very peaceful.  Cry

Re:  the Angeli portraits of husband, wife, eldest son and daughter - I believe there is one also of Alfred, Marie, Young Affie and Missy.  I'm sure I have it somewhere.  Huh

Oh my Lord Keith, you don't realise how much that photo of Eddy means to me. I don't obsess over his death, but I had often seen the image of him lying so peacefully, surrounded by flowers, in my minds eye and knew that Queen Alexandra would have had photographs taken. I know this might sound strange, but I'm actually glad to have seen this photo. The scene is more beautiful than I had imagined and I now understand why some relatives keep photographs of their deceased loved ones. It brings peace and closure somehow.

It is an amazing photo. It looks like the room was very small and seems crowded with flowers--that's my  impression anyway. I think they wrote that it wasn't a very large room and was quite cramped when everyone gathered around the deathbed. Must've made an already horrible situation worse. After though, the scene does seem very peaceful.

There is an Edinburgh one as well--I think it's posted on the Edinburghs thread. They were all published at one time or another in illustrated magazines of the day and I just nabbed the Prussian one so when Bob gets back I'm going to have him frame them all side by side in the hall.  Smiley

Omg--the Earl of S.A came in again tonight! Just as I had gathered the courage to approach him, I hear a ladies voice "Excuse me, can you help?" as HE went down the stairs! Grrr. I then saw him browsing the magazines but he left before I could approach him. (If the Earl himself is reading this, I am the American one with reddish hair, on the second floor! I want to talk to you!  Grin)

The room was very small. You can just see the edge of the fire place Smiley

It's funny when you think of how large the various palaces and castles seem, yet when you see photos of the bedrooms and other non-public rooms, they really aren't large at all. You can also see that it wasn't a large, luxurious bed by any means--very simple.
