Please, read carefully my answer too. Who was defending OTMAA for having bad manners at table? I was only explaining what it COULD have happened in my oppinion, not excusing them for being nasty.

And what is this story of supposing I'm opposing nobility rank to imperial one? For me, both are nobility and there's no excuse of any person to embarrase others at meals. A true well educated person, nobility or not will act as a lady or a gentleman in front of every human being, from imperial rank, minor nobility or commoners. No excuse for bad manners for ANYONE. If you beleieved I was making difference between nobility and imperial princess, it must have been my bad English. In another royal forum -this one about modern royals -a moderator scolded me for using the generic word "nobility" speaking about imperial and royal princes and explained to me "there were not the same thing", so, I tought it was a difference of language and became use to use the word "royals" to make a difference between these kinf of nobility and persons who were closer to a throne. But in Spanish we speak about "nobleza", who is more common than to say "realeza". In any case, I always believed that to say "nobility" was the same than to say "royals". When I was warned about not being the same concept, I began use separate words. I found it ridicoulous, but I tought it was an English language subtility. Sorry. If it is not the case, I'll use the word "nobility" for all blue-blooded people, royals or not.

In fact I was not excusing Anastasia for her bad manners. It was quite the opposite. I was saying that she KNEW how to act at table, so if she didn't do it, it was her exclusive FAULT. A person who doesn't know how to act is not blamable, but since Anastasia knew more than well how she was supposed to act, she was being awfully bad.

And I, for myself believes it's not true that a low nobility person would not have good manners at meals. This statesment is simply ridicoulous.

Thank you for your response, "RealAnastasia".  To recap somewhat:  The crux of the situation as stated by the  #11 poster openly said that "bad manners at meal time are manifestrd by princesses who are not princesses of a royal family," apparently giving some mystical exemption of higher-ranking titled personages (royal and imperial) in dining manners.  Taking for example the "case of the princesses (and princes as well)",  there should be NO distinction in the correct application of individual table manners between an  "HIH," "HRH" and an "HH." This young poster , IMO, wishes at any cost to excuse deviations from those social expectations  of certain members , Royal and Imperial (particularly of the last coronated Russian emperor's family with whom they feel some kind of self-deceiving mystical connection to the point of, at times, referring to them  in the present tense and thus, ALIVE, trying to explain away their actual or perceived deficits.  Total silliness!  Condem ALL who do not adhere to the known rulers of common table courtesy, NOT relegate offenses to a certain class, lesser title or gender.   In Conclusion:  I most definitely agree WITH THE LAST TWO SENTENCES of your kind posting (#15).  Well said!   Regards,  AP

Thanks! And I'm happy that you've understand what I was trying to say. My english is far for being perfect.

I do like the Imperial Family...but I will not excuse their members of everything bad they could do. This is pure sillyness.

Anastasia did have bad table manners as a child, at least. I read she once went under the table and acted like a dog; barking and nipping at peoples' feet. Nicholas pulled her out from under the table by her hair!

I've never read anything about when she got older, though.
