Silly question... 
Who is the man next to Irene in this picture? I don't think the description given with it gave that information...

I believe it is King Harold of Norway.

Was there any relationship between them?

The photo looks like it was taken about the time of the wedding of King Constantine II and Queen Anne Marie. King Harold played a role in the wedding. That's probably all there was to the two being photographed together.

Actually this rang a bell, I think there was something, at least hoped for, beween them.  There was some hope among their parents that they might marry.  Supposedly Irene even learned Norweigan.  But Harald had already started dating Sonja, who he would later marry.
Just google Irene of Greece and Norway, there's a lot out there, no idea how much of it is factual tho.

I read Irene never got over Harald.

I actually think she was more attached to Michel d'Orléans. Their relationship came to an abrupt end when he met Béatrice Pasquier de Franclieu, so maybe that has left some resentment. I remember reading somewhere that Franclieu admitted that she had stolen Michel from her.
