Most of the photos are from the first White Flower Festival. But you can tell the difference by Tatiana's hair, or their dresses:

In 1912 the girls' dresses all had had dark bows at the neck, and dark sashes:

Their underside of their hats also had a dark band along the outer edge of the brim, which framed their hair.

In 1914 their dresses had a V-neck, and only the Big Pair had the dark sashes:

The video footage of the children parading their flowers around the courtyard at Livadia was shot in 1912.

Well here in Bulgaria we celebrate it in April... but here is kind of different now... The people which wear names on flowers like my mother Kamelia they celebrate also and each year in the orphanage "Queen Ioanna" there are clothes and toys for the children like every Christmas and so on Flower day
Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. No one was there.

It was celebrated at Yalta, South Crimea, at Livadia Palace, during springs of 1912 and 1914, when IF visited Crimea. Is it still celebrated? I can't tell for sure, but I came across something like that, IMHO, it is more like one remembrance to tradition, like 'Charitable action' see:

Thank you, Nena. It's interesting to see people contemporary with us celebrating in the Livadia courtyard.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to put this, but I can't find a painting thread..but here's a picture I found of Maria, painted in 1905 by Konstantin Egorovich Makovsky that might interest people here.

I didn't know that Maria had this color of hair, I knew that her hair was dark blond, but
perhaps it became darker when Maria became older... What do you think?

I wonder if that's the sitting where her sister Olga told the painter exactly what she thought of him which made Margaretta Eager laugh?

Maria's hair was probably only dark blond as a baby, and as she got older, it became darker, like you said. So I don't find that painting to be very realistic. :P

Romanov History Buff - I'm pretty sure it's not from the session that Ms. Eagar wrote about because she left in 1904, and the painting is supposed to be painted in 1905.

Or perhaps is just a little bit idealised, many paintings of the past were idealised.
And perhaps this is not the exception

If you take a look at nmaria´s pics from 1906 photoshoot, her hair seem almost blonde, so she may have been "lighter" back then.

I think that was in 1899...
