Report by dear Marianne who lives in Apeldoorn:

http://members3.boardhost.com/Beneluxroyal/msg/1241093756.html

You just can't imagine how shocked we all are.It is just mindboggling.

Flag at half mast at Het Loo Palace this afternoon.

It has just been announced during a press conference that this was a diliberate act by a 38 year old man.
He is under arrest but as he is one of the wounded he is operated on at the moment.

Apparently he had tryed a few minutes before to get in the security area but failed as the Royal Constabulary Force stopped him there.

HM The Queen just appeared on TV and stated her,and her families and all dutch, deep and warm sympathies and prayers to all the berieved,
wounded, families and friends over this deeply tragic event.
HM was clearly in deep shock and disbelieve.

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix appeared on national tv,visibly shocked.I have never seen her like this before:

The day started beautifull, sun and fun everywhere as these pics show, before disaster struck:

http://www.ppe-agency.com/show.php?zoektype=2&search=30-04-2009%20Apeldoorn

The difference and the general mood couldn't be more clear then comparing these pics with the
death and destruction that nut caused,on purpose.
It is seen officially as an attack on The Royal Family, the guy apparently was fired recently and has
no known record with the justice department. His house has been searched, his neighbours are in
shock as it apparently was such a quite nice man.

There will be another press conference at 19.30PM local time,GMT+1.

I just came home from a ''vrijmarkt'' in the neighbourhood, when my father told me the extremely shocking news. I run inside, where my mother was sitting in front of the TV in shock. The three of use followed the news about this tragic horrible incident the whole time. But when the showed the moment when everything happened. A cold chill embraced me and a tear came in my eye when the journal showed a crying little girl between the panic crowd. I feel so very sorry fore all those people who worked so hard to make Queensday 2009 unforgettable and a great day to remember. And my thoughts go out to the family of the victims and I have no words fore the people that died. I'm so shocked! And I watch the reaction of the Queen with great respect and I felt she was a true mother of the Nation. Last year during Queensday 2008. I was one of the people who had the privilege of meeting HM Queen Beatrix and her family during a after party of Queensday 2008 in Franeker. Because I to was one of the so many people who had worked hard to make Queensday a unforgettable one. It was truly a unforgettable day and meeting, that I will remember fore the rest of my life. It is tragic that so many people in Apeldoorn did not get that change, and will remember this day like a horrible one and a shadow. This is the day Queensday lost his innocence!

With a tear from the Netherlands,

Mark

This truly is a shocking and tragic event and it does pose the question: why? At the moment though, I believe that our thoughts should be focused on the family and friends of the those who died, as well as those who had a very lucky escape, including the royal family.

Its so shocking. Queen Day is a very special day for us Dutch people. Its the birthday of Queen Juliana, and is still the day that the Queen en her entire family celebrates her birthday with her people. Its so shocking. That this could happen!!! The lost of those lives.

I was at work today and it all was confusing, here in Belgium, I can't believe anyone would attack the Royal Family - and esp. not out in the open. You can feel everyone is completely shocked, several of my Dutch friends are really shocked and sick because of what happened. It is simply a tragedy, it would've been a day of celebration and now will always be one of mourning for the Dutch and those who lost family during the attack. Thank God the Royal Family got away unharmed, it is too tragic already.

This truly is a shocking and tragic event and it does pose the question: why? At the moment though, I believe that our thoughts should be focused on the family and friends of the those who died, as well as those who had a very lucky escape, including the royal family.

Below is some more video footage of the car attack, from a different angle. You can see the shocked reactions of the people on the tourbus afterwards:

Tom

The people on the tourbus Tom,is the Royal Family, they saw it all happening and they are in shock.
They drove that perticular bus as they watched a parade of cars and vehicles dating from the young
Princess Juliana's day and age,so they took to a roofless bus to watch all and everyone and so they
were seen also.It also is a very unique and very close event you see, there is nonesuch an event as our Queensday.

A service of remembrance will be held soon at the Grote Kerk in Apeldoorn.HM will be in attendance.

At the last pressconference it was said that the nut was in a critical condition after this afternoons operation.
The news later confirmed he was declared braindead. Now we will never know why.

Also,a young child,a girl, that was catapulted through the air this morning as the murderer hit her with the car from behind, has passed away.
Five are dead now,may they rest in Peace.

God Bless Our Royal Family.
