I agree,what could one possibly have against honoring HM in this way?One surely must see that it is quiet
extraordinary that a Monarch sits it out for 60 years and that it takes exceptional measures and celebrations.

Two Queens Reigning over 60 years and both have a tower named after them.You don't see that happening every day....not even in Amsterdam...
Nice,nothing to make a big deal off,no-one will start naming it Big Lilli instead of Big Ben now tho.

Might you ask why...are they changing the name? Or why would I like to see a poll taken?

I was refering to the idea of a poll.  I don´t think polls tell us very much.  As others state, of course the clock will always be called Big Ben, however, it is appropriate that both towers of the Palace of Westminster are named after Diamond monarchs.  I doubt very much else of note is being constructed institutionally and this would seem to be the most suitable option.

Robert I agree. I like the move as a nice way to honor the Queen and most people will still refer to it as Big Ben anyway...
