A dutch radiostation received a threatmail aiming at Queen Beatrix by a nut holding her responsible for the death of "millions of Afghani's and Iraki's,and who now treatens to kill her.

Really. As after the Queensday tragedy nothing is taken for granted, this "message" is under serious investigation.

Queen Fabiola of Belgium received a simular message these days.

The silly season sets in early this year.

HM unveiled two larger then life statues of her late parents yesterday at Soestdijk Palace, their home for 67 years and HM place of birth:

(I don't like the statues one bit, they look like second rate vaudeville artists on a day out)

Wonder what HM really thinks of it as she is a accomplished sculptress herself, and a darn good one at that too.
Kees Verkade, the artist, used to make such great work, specifically a buste of the late Princess Grace,a close friend,
comes to mind. That was beautifull, this is a far cry from the quality then...allthough..art..beauty is in the eye of...

And the President did arrive yes! Oh yes!  Hahaha!
I live (very) near the Noordeinde Palace (it's at the end of the canal) and this morning it was murder getting out of town, what with all the policed convoys driving to and thro, blocking all traffic.
I gathered they're holding a state banquet tonight, but coming home I did not have any delays, banquet must have started late.

It's great living here, on a canal in the centre of the Hague, but not much so when some dignitary is visiting (and staying at the Noordeinde Palace) and roads are blocked and you can't go anywhere. (Unless ofcourse you're the last car they let through and then you get a police-escort out of town: it's priceless, it's out of this world! Only happened once sadly, when the president of Argentina was visiting a couple of years ago, but we live in hope.... ;-)  )

Oh it is not like there's a State Visit every day,so just sit it out every once in a while...it is worthwhile.
Fortunately the Royal Palace Amsterdam will be in use again as venue for State Visits,so your lovely little village
by the sea doesn't have to put up with these annoyances any longer.... Roll Eyes

Gala at Noordeinde Palace last night:

HM wearing the Mellerio Ruby tiara

I've written some weeks ago a letter towards our Queen. I know that most letters are read by her secretary. Or does she also read some of the letters by her people? And what happens with these written letters. Are they saved in some kind of archive?

teddy, these matters are not open for discussion and are at the discretion of,in this case, you.Act accordingly.
HM does read letters yes,not all,as there's a lot of begging and complaining going on and we can't keep her up with that,
She does read those with a content, and they are all saved at the Royal archives and Het Kabinet van HM de Koningin.
