Is it a courtyard? Doesn't look like a view from the Embankment.

Svetabel & Reco,
The photo of the building you posted is Gagarinsky St, 3 also known as the Palais Rose.  It was given to the Princess by Alexander III after his father's death.
I don't have a good picture of the English Quay 46, but am posting this slightly less clear one.

This is the building the Princess lived in with her children before Alexander II moved her to the Winter Palace.

Thanks, Bob  :).  I definitely need one more walk along the Quay ;)

In fact I am more interested in the interiors of the mansion. Possibly you have some pictures? :)

That is the interesting detail about this Palace - in fact this is a palace Maly Mramorniy (Minor Marble) - before Princess Yurievskaya the owner was unfortunate GD Nikolai Konstantinovitch, who lived there with his mistress Fanny Lear.

Another article on the history on the "Small Marble Palace", Gargarinskaya 3:

http://www.avoknw.ru/archive/journal_added_09260806October2008/13555006October2008_liot.pdf

An interesting footnote in a quick reading of the article is that Princess Yurievskaya's children's rooms in the Winter Palace on the second floor of the pages corridor faced the inner courtyard. These rooms were I believe the ones used by GD Marie Nikolaevna, daughter of Nicholas I. The princess' bedroom was next to the elevator of AII and her drawing rooms etc would have therefore faced the Admiralty side.
