Unfortunately, no photos.
I can say that all is the same: two door, than a vestibule (of course without ticket office), two staircases to the second floor, steps and long dark corridor with doors.
The corridor was so dark that I think nobody use the rooms on the first floor. The stuff is working on the second floor.

I will be in Russia, St. Petersburg late July-early August this coming summer. Seems like forever. But I will be going to the Aleksander Palace when off from my cruise. I was wondering if anyone would be open for me sharing photographs when I am there. Would the palace be in better shape to visit them if anybody knows?

Hey haga,  I would love for you to share your pictures.  I would even like to request you take some specific pictures, if you get the chance?  I would like to see a good current picture of the balcony off the semi circle room and also the exact bridge in the Alexander Park, just down from balcony, where Nicholas II and Tatianna were sitting as prisoners, with a guard behind them.  If you can't though, I understand.  I hope the cruise line gives you have lots of time to explore Alexander Palace!  Tracy.

Of course. Is why I posted that question. As long as its a reasonable request, which most are I would hope, I have no problem. Ah, if you could send me a photograph maybe of what you have inmind of Nikolai i Tatiana at that place? Keep in mind people that I will not be leaving for this holiday until July this coming summer 2010 (boy that sounds odd to write), I will be in Petersburg for July 29-30 I believe for 2 full days. 6:30am-7pm next day. Should be plenty of time for much to do. If anybody else would have requests, or things they would like to see please, feel free anytime to ask me. Now, if I don't get back to you immediately don't worry. I am a full-time undergrade student, and I spent most my free time at the gym or jogging, but I will always check email twice a day. Now, this is my photograph/filming plans I have laid out extensively of what you will get from me.

Photography  will consist of detailed:
1. The entry gates to the Aleksandr Dvorets (Aleksander Palace)
2. Walk up the main path viewing the Imperial Wing.
3. Views of the Right Wing
4. Shots of the Colonade from both sides, that area which I believe leads into the Semi-Circular Hall or Parade Rooms, (if I am wrong please feel free to correct me)
5. Ballistrades, shots of the back of near the Semi-Circular Hall and its entire back
6. Will take zoomed photographs of the windows on the ground floor (possible of each window, front to back, side to side so maybe you can see inside from there
7. My friend suggested if I could climb a tree nearby I could zoom my camera to take photographs of the second floor! Haha! Children's quarters, all upstairs views (view #6) But don't know if that is entirely possible, so...
8. Children's Pavilion, and any nearby structures. (i.e. Fyeodrovnskii Cathedral and such) Any suggested I much welcome.

Interiors are a must of course. (I will try very hard to take photographs of having no extra people in the shots. Don't know, that just always bugs me!) Anybody else?
1. The entry doors to the Imperial Wing
2. Just inside the vestibule, ceilings and all.
3. Corridor, a few of the doors to certains rooms that might not be open (give you your imaginatgion!)
4. I plan to take detailed photographs of the available rooms on tour at the time, encircle the entire room or for individual items. (have any? Let me know please)
5. Zoom footage of the Mezzanine nook.

Filming will follow the same lines as my photography if not more detailed. (i.e I will try and film up close to each window ground floor/or second floor if I can climb a tree) And any nearby places, such as Children's Pavilion, my camera has great zoom. Fyeodrovskii Sobor, Llama House.

If anyone has requests or feels I have missed anything they would wish to see, don't hesitate at all to ask! I enjoy this forum and hope for the best. Now, I will post other places for St. Petersburg/Catherine/Yussupov/Winter/Peterhof Palaces or theatres. Again if you have specific things in mind again I welcome them as long as they are reasonable and manageable. Keep in mind this is for only 2 days but I intend to do my best.

Now for those of you here at this forum, for your convinience, I speak: English, German, French, Russian & some Swedish so if either is more comfortable for you please use.

Also if you feel I missed anything in my layout fill me in or send private message. Wow, do I talk to much?                            Marie

So Vladimir,  Was the door to the right wing just propped open, enabling you to have a peek inside?  I was thinking this was a temporary entry for visitors while restoration is in progress, but I'm guessing now that I misunderstood.  I don't know why, but I was imagining visitors weaving their way through the right wing in order to reach the left wing.  Maybe I was too tired or perhaps dreaming!

The door was open and I went inside. In the vestibule I asked gatekeeper (guard):
- Is it a museum?
- No,- he answered.
- Really? : )

Well, probably I was like an idiot but I had time to see what I wanted.

Of course it is a temporary entry while restoration is in progress.

Erica, thank you for your photos! One thing I really appreciated about them was your attention to detail with the ceiling designs and bridge railings. I was also greatly surprised to see photos of the vestibule, because as far as I've seen, no one has posted photos of that before.

Marie, it sounds like you have quite an ambitious list already. I'm not sure what luck you'll have climbing a tree around the palace since from what I've heard, the guards might not be too keen on that. My only request is for more photos of details that might usually be overlooked. Details of anything. Thanks for offering to do this!

of course, details are a must. I know, climbing the tree was my friends joke. I doubt it..anyway, I had to change user names because I got myself all confused on remember the old password, I have to many for certain things. Anyway, I moved the subject I thought a different thread would be more appropriate. I am no longer haga, I am now alexpalace. If you check out my thread under YOUR Photographs request, I would be more than happy to take requests from those whom would like. Not luck yet in staring the thread so we shall see. -Marie

Okay- I went to AP last weekend...and it's of course still under restoration...but to me it truly seemed like the museum was closed. Does anyone know if it's open currently? I'll be going back next week and have time to visit AP again...would really appreciate knowing if I can enter, instead of stalking around the outside of it like last time.

Here's a quick vid of AP when I was there last week:

Here's some restoration photos of my own as well:

Great topic, thanks for adding it! Smiley

Thank you for the video and the pictures. It looks like they probably did close the museum for now, considering that wing is covered in that screen. Did you take any other photos of the grounds?

It is so wonderful to see that the restoration work has finally begun. The Alexander Palace has been left to deteriorate for far too long.  Hopefully, the quality of the work will be up to the same standards as the restoration of the other Imperial palaces completed during the Communist era.

FYI, I just posted a high def video of the interior of the AP that I shot last month while on vacation.  The palace is busy with a lot of workers actively restoring its exterior.

Cheers.
