Thank you for sharing violetta!!! Smiley I really enjoyed your pics especially from Skerniewice. I've always imagined Skerniewice as a gloomy dark place an the palace there must be as well. But thanks to your pics, it dispeled my thoughts of how Skerniewice.

Yes,skierniwice palace and the premises are lovely.the palace houses a scientific institution-an agricultural institute.one can v isit it on prior arrangement. after i`ve seen the palace  i too k a walk around the lovely garden.it was a sunny july afternoon, the flowers were blooming.and the grass had the most wonderful smell after having being exposed to the sun.paradise-like garden. in the former palace park (now a pubic garden) there is a small lovely pond...i`m not at all surprised that the romanovs chose it for their hunting residence...

the royal road.aleksandra fedorovna used to go around spala along this road  in a carriage.

this is what remained of the palace Sad it was destroyed or,to be precise, burnt in january 1945. according to one version, it was accidentaly burnt becuse of heavy fire.according to the other version, a soviet officer ordered to BURN it after he had learnt it was the tzar`s residence. no one is able to say for certain what happened in january 1945.

Did the Imperial family during the 19th century ever own or visit palaces in the Krakow area?

The members of the Imperial family didn't own the palaces in the Krakow area. But probably they visited Wawel.

Krakow and surroundings was not a part of Russian Empire. It was under the Habsburgs.

Violetta,
Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures of Spala.  I hadn't seen the interiors before.  My imagination had the interiors much more rustic and simple than the "White Living Room" pictures show them to have been.  Any more??
Thanks again.
