Interesting place, a Versailles of Moscow, how pretentious. According to the article, ultimately, it belongs to Gazprom. Not surprising.

The Gazprom of course denies the new Palace belongs to their head chief.

It may not. strictly speaking, but according to the report, it belongs to one of Gazprom's wholly owned subsidiaries.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is being prepared as a retirement gift to Putin.

I don't believe that your suspicions will prove to be correct.

I agree with Belochka.  Putin is a very private person and would rather live in a remote place that is hidden away in a forest.  This ostentatious palace is not his style.

I don't think Putin would want to live in it. I am sure he would want somehting with a little taste.

I would have to agree.
Who knows ? it could be being built  by some Russian gazillionaire, who visited Versailles and found out he could not buy it.

Well it was just a guess but it is not exactly in the heart of an urban area.

The way things are going in England the government would probably sell of the palaces and fine houses here given a chance. Some politicians might even but them for themselves out of their expenses, you never know!

Michael,HR, that largess has come to and end, though.
From what I know of Moscow, which admittedly is not much, the  "mini-Versailles" is in  a rather  "tony"  area. It must be giving a lot of people work, that is a good thing., no matter who it is for.

Putin and his wife appear to be very frugal/private people.. I don't see him living in a massive private palace - the Russian people wouldn't appreciate that.
