Nice!

Five of seven members of the IF all born within a month of each other...wild! September must have been a very "loving" time for Nicky & Alix with three daughters all born nine months later in June (at least if we use the New Style calendar)  ;)

Interestingly the only of the four daughters not to be born in June was Olga, but that's partially made up for by the fact that OTMA's favorite aunt coincidentally carrying the Olga namesake was born on 6/13!

Why us I sometimes ask, why my family?
Why us kids?
What did we do?
Nothing, we didn't do anything.
Yes Anastasia pulled rude and sly jokes on people, but those were just fun, that wouldn't have got us murdered.
Maria was an angel, who could kill her?
Tatiana was beautiful, and would have been snatched up by a man in no time.
And I Olga was smart, I could have made living even if we weren't rich.
Daring Alexei as well, he was just a sick little boy.
Why could anyone harm a family like ours I sometimes ask, how could they?
How could they look right at us and then shoot?
As Romanovs that was our fate.
And now we are safe in heaven together,
this is how we would have wanted it anyway,
together forever,
as family,
as one.
Woken in the middle of the night told to get dressed what a sight theres an outbreak in the street they are told walking down the steps brave and bold in the cellar 20 minutes it took to kill a family in a little nook that night their dreams were shattered with their clothes bloody and tattered

Well done MN, very touching!

I think we've all imagined each of them saying something along these lines from beyond the grave.

I have poems for OTandM but everyone seems to like Maria's the best so here it goes *clears throat*

"Prayer of Marie-One for Maria"

Call me your angel, your precious one
I may be little but I'll grow up strong
And like all girls I have my dreams
Made up of roses and starry scenes

Give me a husband that works real hard
Ten children playing in the yard
Give me my sisters now and forever
So we can bring our children up together
But most of all give my brother his health
For it all I will trade my wealth

Once we went sailing like the sailors do
They even dressed us up like sailors too
I want each day like that if you will
Made up of roses and daffodils

Grant my dear father the gift to see
The good all sorts of people can be
Give all the children a warm place to lie
That they will never have the need to cry
But most of all give my brother his health
For it all I will trade my wealth

The roads are rocky and dreams seem far
People no longer like who we are
They said my father brought upon strife
So one night for that they traded my life

I see no need to mourn material things
I'd much prefer to materialize my dreams
For a better world I think we both would agree
Oh Heavenly Father, grant this prayer for me

Give me my father and my mother too
My brother's health and we'll pay you all you're due
Give me my sisters until eternity ends
Oh Lord forever amen

Adorable, well done :-)

I noticed that there isn't a specific reference to Marie (other than maybe the ten children reference) so really this could be a poem written and prayer made by any of the sisters, which I personally like better. Maybe just call it a "Prayer of OTMA".

Glad to see this thread taking off again!

Thank you, yes it could be for all of them easily. I have one from the Dowager's point of view that I'll post later.

That is absolutely beautiful! The rhyming is lovely, and it sounds a lot like something I think Maria might say. Well done, well done indeed! I look forward to more! :)

Thanks. :) Here's the Dowager one like I said. It talks about OTMA so I figured it fitted here

"The Dowager's Heart"

She won’t yet lapse into insanity
Nor has she lost hope in humanity
Yet her jewels aren’t worth the tears she’s cried
When the news came that they had died

Her conscious fights for what her heart has stole
But she would rather believe her soul
A soul that deceives her they are still alive
At least the children have survived

But her heart is cruel making her mind dread
Screaming “Nicky is already dead!”
But lo she writes in hope of reply
She’s the Dowager Empress and queens don’t cry

Her grand children will write, send a message or call
They are strong young women, Romanovs after all
Olga will come first, poetic and blonde—
“Olga is already gone”

There’s a knock at the door made by a delicate hand
Could it be her, a duchess, one grand
Tatiana will arrive, no matter the cost
“Tatiana is already lost”

Today a letter arrived just for her eyes
She tears it open hoping for a surprise
Maria, has written her grandmother, the dear
“Maria is no longer here”

There is no hope but she won’t give in
She tries to dream, she tries to pretend
Anastasia, she lives, oh lift sorrows’ weight off her chest
“Anastasia is with all the rest”

She thinks of the heir who so needed protecting
She wipes at the tears the mirror is reflecting
Alexei is fine he’s a mere boy but strong
“Alexei Nikolaevich bids you live long”

But the poor woman refuses to see
It cannot be the truth, it just cannot be
Russia will live, she will not turn and hide
“Russia has already died”

By Russia of course I mean Romanov Russia

sequence of hope flaming up  and then hope dashed...WOW!!!
