I read that she had to be pushed in a wheelchair when she was pregnant with Maria, so I suppose that was when she started using it.

She had sprained her ankle when playing lawn tennis - Both the Tsar and Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig were keen players although the latter had to quit due an injury of the knee.
The Schlossmuseum Darmstadt preserves a wonderful goblet made of silver and nephrite by the Grand Ducal silversmith Ernst Riegel.
It was the price at one Russian/Hessian match - obviously the Hessian team won Smiley

is it just me, or do her legs look amputated and/or withered in that last picture?  IDK, maybe the big hat, hair, and sholders are messing up my perception.

Is it true that Alexandra, while on a trip to a spa, decided to have a wheelchair race with someone? One of her siblings, I think......

I don't know. I could be wrong. After all, I am rather tired and for all I know, it could be something I dreamed of. That's why I was posting it here, to confirm whether it is true or not. Sarushka? FA? Where are you guys?
