I didn't know Alexandra had been to Italy! When exactly? I was just there a few months ago, now I wish I'd known that!

I read that in "Nicholas and Alexandra" and all I know is that she went to Florence and Venice when she was young. Not sure eactly of the year, or when or with whom.
Anybody else know?

We're going to see the house my great-great grandfather built in Naples when the family was still living there...

Interesting, Abbigail, are your family Italian?

You know you're obsessed when you stay up past one in the morning chatting with fellow Romanov geeks about the Romanovs or Hapsburgs or something else related to them.

Yes, my family's Italian.

Ekaterina, that's a good one! I'm sure many of the people on this forum can relate!
There is a clock that never strikes...
There is a cathedral that goes down and a lake that goes up...
There is a little carriage abandoned in the copse...
There is a troupe of little actors in costume...
And when you are hungry or thirsty, there is someone who drives you away.

YKYOWTHRW you find it amusing at the zealous ethusiam of someone else's love for a historical figure and then think "Merde, that was the way I was when I started my love of the IF."

My boyfriend's mother is into an Australian historical figure and gets all excited about them.   I found an article in the paper about the figure and she almost screamed with delight over it.  LOL.
Beautiful faithful Nargony.
Thanks Emily!

YKYOWTRW you get expo markers that can draw on glass so your front glass door reads the following
"Hope Has a Place in A Lover's Heart" (thank you Ally's Maria/Enya Video)
you quote underneath Lili Dehn's "Lovely and pleasant were they in their Lives..." underneath it "And in their death they were not divided" and then right next to it vertically it reads
Olga
Tatiana
Maria
Anastasia
(A)lexei with the OTMA(A) in block format and colored in... that was not easy either besides having to write all the backwards so it can be read outside!

Ones of my own

* You hear something that sounded (even vaguely like) the word 'Tatiana' mentioned on the TV in a bar and demand everyone goes silent and the volume turned up. (1999 - Aged 19)
* You are taken to the imperial War Museum (London) specifically to wean you off all this 'royalty rubbish' by reintroducuing you to your previous mania - WWII. You instead spend all 7 hours in the one and only Russian room in the WWI exhibit reading the same stuff over and over again (feeling upset you couldn't find a decent photo of Tatiana, but looking more intently as if one will 'just appear' if you keep looking) while your dad (A Trades Union Official of all things) looks like he's about to scream. (Aged 16)

Ha ha, very good!

It's great to see another enthusiastic Tatiana fan!

I was digging a hole to plant a hydrangea plant in this afternoon and it made me think of the horrible Bolsheviks and them digging NAOTMAA's graves...it made me feel sad.  :'(
Also, I was scraping cake crumbs from a pan that a cake had just come out of, and it made me think of how Anastasia probably begged the cook to let her do that.  ;D

When you're at a dress rehearsal for Trooping the Colour and you start wondering what the Russian equivalent would have been like!

YKYOWTRW.....You start teaching a little kid Russian, tell her she needs a Russian name (to make it more exciting, and to do with name days), write her a list of them (with OTMA's at the top) and get all excited when she chooses 'Tatiana'. Lol.
