Driving west from Krasnoye Selo, Ropsha Palace is located on the right from the main road. It is a dirt road/path that is incredibly difficult to find and drive on. The palace faces east to the lake and is still today as shown in the above photos. One thing that was amazing to note after having seen the view from the Yale Albums c1910s was the small scale of this palace.

Dear Joanna, Many thanks for the Ropsha plans and the plans of the park.  I have found myself collecting all of the plans I can get my hands on.

Did you take pictures while you were there.....if so, you know we would love to see them.  You have a way with words that make everything come alive for us.

Joanna,
I was going to ask the same thing about if you took pictures!  Are you possibly going to set up a website to share your pictures/Adventures of your travels in Russia? Or will you be sharing them here?  I'm sure there are many of us who would love to hear all about it!

I have a virtual friend in Russia who in the early 1970s was an officer in a chemical defense battalion stationed in the Ropsha Palace.

By "virtual friend" I mean a person whom I've never met personally but with whom friendly relations have developed in the course of electronic communication, mainly over the Internet. In the earlier times, they were called "pen friends", but nowadays we no more use pens, and calling them "mouse friends" or "keyboard friends" wouldn't be nice, would it?

As to this particular friend of mine, I doubt if he keeps any photos of the Ropsha palace - it used to be a military base after all. However I'll ask him to share with us his recollections of the place.

There is hope for Ropsha. The children are the future and taught the treasure that is their heritage.

If everything goes as I hope then coming to St Petersburg this summer, I will try to have getaway until  Ropsha, this place exudes so much mysteries ... it would be interesting to make a few more photos and having a bit more informations on the current state of the palace and the field ... to be continued!
