Vassilli,
Glad we've got that cleared up.  And the Taleon article is a treasure trove of photos and information about Petersburg palaces.
Thanx.

After the death of GD Mikhayl Nikolaevitch in 1911, his memory museum was founded in his private rooms.
His two sons - Georgy Mikhaylovitch and Nikolay Mikhaylovich lived there till revolution.
They were shooted at Petropavlovka on 28th January of 1919.
Nikolay Mikhaylovitch was also a great historian.
Now the palace is knows as Institut Vostokovedeniya - Institute of Oriental Studies.

This is Sveta's plan. I added some numbers to show where the rooms were/are.

Gleb, the old pictures are so wonderful!  Especially with the diagram showing where they were.  My mind has gone wild dreaming up colors to go with the pictures......  Thank you for posting them.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am a little confused.  This is not the same palace that Tsar Paul built and was subsequently murdered in?  The name seems similar. Help? ???

The building you're reffering to is the Castle of the Engineers, which completely different in shape, style, architect etc.etc.
